Today the House of Representatives will vote on Bush’s bill to throw more money at the war in Iraq. But it’s not just any old bill throwing money at Iraq, because the House Democrats craftily attached a complete troop withdrawal deadline of August 31, 2008 to the bill. They also appropriated $21 billion of additional funds for other pressing emergencies, such as:
- Health Care funding — to be focused on brain injury and amputee care, Avian Flu preparedness, and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)
- Spinach aid
- Peanut storage
- Shrimp mapping
- Milk money
Critics say the Democrats porked-up the bill in order to win support of fellow democrats, but Bossy thinks there’s nothing wrong with classifying those things as a National Emergency because she quite enjoys shrimp fried spinach with her milk-fed pork.
In order for the bill to pass it needs 218 votes of approval, but the House Democrats are still a couple of votes shy. Bossy is looking at you, Keith Ellison of Minnesota, Brad Ellsworth of Indiana, and Hank Johnson of Georgia.

And those shrimp NEED maps so more of them don’t get lost on their way into the trap so I can have more of them to EAT.
