Today marks two weeks Bossy’s been on the road
Driving thousands of miles, as you have been told
And she’s written about parties and bloggers and bars
But the one thing neglected is a poem about her cars.
She is sponsored by Saturn, as you probably know
A new car each week, super new and aglow
They smell like a showroom, all clean and pristine
And here is the kicker: the cars are all green.
Bossy first drove the Vue, which is a small S-U-V
The color was divine, like the Aegean Sea
Its back seat was ample for Bossy’s truck stop napping
And it handled quite smooth—great for her photo snapping.
The next car she drove was a Saturn Outlook
It was higher and bigger, lots of lane room it took
The color was grey, sometimes bluish or green
It had three rows of seats—enough to fit a whole team.
Both the Vue and the Outlook have a really cute ass
Though the Vue is a hybrid and better on gas
The Outlook’s front headlamps reminded Bossy of the Citroen
(Bossy’s childhood car over a two-decade span.)
Now Bossy is driving the convertible Sky
She never drove with the top down, so she thought she would try
At first she felt vulnerable: her head out in the air
But she’s grown used to the feeling (and has learned some new prayers.)
So thank you to Saturn, so far it’s all good
If you have not considered a Saturn, you certainly should
Without GM’s Onstar Bossy doubts if she could
have traveled alone across hills, dales, and ‘hoods.

April 8, 2008 at 2:56 pmSeriously, how good was the hybrid gas mileage? I will buy a hybrid with stellar, not just good, mileage potential.

April 8, 2008 at 3:05 pm“Citroen” rhymes with “span”? Have I been mispronouncing it all this time???
The shame. The horrible horrible shame.

April 8, 2008 at 3:15 pmwhat is a dale?
There arent any dales in Laguna Beach, that I know of, but we have an ocean.
Im imagining that Bossy is driving up the coast, as we speak, flirting with the man in the car in the next lane, tossing her golden curls, but really thinking of her hubby at home.
Hurry Bossy, you are almost here….see you tonight!

April 8, 2008 at 3:20 pmIt must be fun driving new cars. DG would like it, anyways. Just when the new car smell starts to wear off and the steering wheel gets sticky…BAM! NEW CAR!

April 8, 2008 at 3:54 pmMy Saturn Aura is really a treat.
It’s an ’07 model that just can’t be beat.
Except by a Viper – perhaps a Ferrari
But ’til I score one of those,
I’ll drive my Aurrari.

April 8, 2008 at 4:03 pmLove the poem. I loved my Saturn when I had one. 🙂 Happy travels!

You’re a beautiful spirit. Thanks for sharing it with us.

April 8, 2008 at 5:17 pmJen – It did.
You know, I believe I’m not so swayed by marketing, but I used Huggies diapers the times I didn’t use cloth because that’s the kind Hi McDunnough (Nicolas Cage) stole in Raising Arizona. And now I want a Saturn.
And a lesbian.

April 8, 2008 at 7:38 pmI can not compete with the hilarity of the comments today. I’m in wisdom tooth pain.
But I WANT that Saturn. I’m too lazy to remember which one. I”ve heard nothing but good about Saturn as a car and as a company. So that is why I’m driving a Suburu. Actually, it’s all good about Suburu too. Except it’s not a hybrid. But my next car might be a Saturn. And I think bossy can feel good about that.
Will you see John in LA?

April 9, 2008 at 3:28 amI love Saturns! And I love them even more because they’re sponsoring Bossy. Safest care EVER — we hit ice at 50 mph and totaled one when I was 6 months pregnant and didn’t even have to go to the doctor — I was totally unhurt. Saturn ROCKS. We bought another one as soon as the insurance came in.
I want the Outlook! But I want it to be hybrid. Oh, and one of those cute convertibles too. Wistful sigh.
Lisalisa says
April 9, 2008 at 3:29 amSo is Saturn filming a commercial about you? Because they totally should.

April 9, 2008 at 8:36 amI’ve got an Ion…and I love it! I traded in a big ol’ mini van for it! And I LOVE IT! The best part? Besides the fact that it is a 5 speed and makes me feel like a badass? Is that my kids can use the side of it as brakes on their bikes…and there is NO DAMAGE! Seriously. I can’t tell you how many times a kid has ridden his bike into my car? Not even a scratch. I want the Outlook next.
OOOH! When I bought the ion? They totally let you drive it out of the showroom! Which I don’t recommend doing if you have 2 kids in the car and you are rusty on your 5 speed driving skills. The salesmen were so nice, they averted their eyes as I bucked and shook on the way out…kids screaming in the backseat. Whatever. It was cool!
Doug says
April 9, 2008 at 10:16 amMaybe I missed it somewhere, but you are sponsored by Saturn?????
What is this and where do I sign up for the Porsche version? (of course they all must be Silver….personal preference).

April 9, 2008 at 8:57 pmBossy, thanks! I am in the market for a new car. I will seriously consider the Saturn options, now that someone I “know” has given them a Road Trip Recommendation. Hmmm…better on gas…I like the sound of that!
