Bossy always thought it was best to turn your chin up when photographed to avoid Weird Neck, but then one time Oprah had a segment about posing for photos and she was all, “Chin down!”
Chin down? For those of us over forty (may I be inclusive here, or is that presumptuous?) chin down sounds like the wrong advice! Is that for celebs only, those with professional cosmetic surgery and photog artists…Not for those of us whose children man the camera?
Everyone knows that Oprah doesn’t want anyone to look better than she does in photos. I mean, I love Oprah-really I do- but her photoshop people are working lots of overtime!
(In fact, I’m pretty sure there’s a sweatshop full of computers somewhere with people toiling away on photos of Oprah and Martha Stewart.)
From my experience on photoshoots, you extend the chin forward! Like a pigeon when it walks, just push your entire head forward about 2″. It stretches out the neck and no awkward nostril shots. 🙂 Although Bossy looks lovely from every angle so far!
Keep your chin up! My Granny always said, when posing for pictures, “Look to the heavens, honey!” And she was a showgirl. You can always trust a showgirl.

October 31, 2008 at 8:41 amIt’s that balance between neck wattles and giving a clear view up your nostrils. I try and find the happy medium.

Not good at all….this is why I avoid cameras all together!
