Please help. Bossy has fallen and she can’t get up.
It’s been months and months since Bossy last updated her Family Tree story. And with each passing day, Bossy finds it more difficult to dive in and continue because, also, does anyone besides Bossy’s best friend her really care?
Quick Poll: should Bossy continue the Family Tree story, or relinquish this space to something else. And if Bossy does continue, should she begin with a refresher post along the lines of, “Bossy’s family was born a poor black child?”
If you don’t know what Bossy is talking about, the story begins with a crazy old American Indian woman.
Bossy thanks you for your help in advance.

March 19, 2009 at 10:04 amI started reading your blog because a friend directed me to one of the family history posts. I was so mesmerized by it that I read the entire saga in a day. Please continue the series. It’s not just your family’s story; it’s the story of an American family learning to make do. It’s something we can all relate to, and it’s the part of history that we never got in our high school textbooks. Please keep going.

March 19, 2009 at 10:09 amYou MUST continue the Family Tree – I read it from beginning to end when I first found your blog. Your family is so much more interesting than mine. Would you consider adoption? I’m very low maintenance.

March 19, 2009 at 11:38 amYes Miss Bossy, you have to continue. I love the way you tell your family’s story, It was one of the first things that endeared me to your site. And just think how great it will be for your kids to have this all written for posterity.
I have read the whole story up to now, but since it has been a while you may want to do a one or two paragraph refresher.
Meg says
March 19, 2009 at 11:40 amYes, yes, yes!! I totally <3 the family pictures and stories!!!
The Other Lisa says
March 19, 2009 at 11:43 amNo, please for god’s sake, find something else to write about!
Sorry – I’m kidding. It’s unanimous. Bring back Walt and Bert and Dondi. It’s lovely that you have so many photos and stories. My mom’s family all worked at Kodak and that side of the family is richly documented – it’s a huge and wonderful legacy.
But – if you don’t have energy for your subject matter – how will you gin yourself up for writing about it? Gin is always an option, of course (and perhaps the origin of the phrase).
Now that’s a conundrum I can not help you with. But I join with your legions of screaming fans in fervently hoping that you find the will to resume your family history.

Grandma J says
March 19, 2009 at 1:01 pmBeing Bossy’s best friend, I could have told Bossy that the saga about Walt, Bert and little Dondi was the same kind of sage that made huge stars out of the likes of Bogie and Bacall.
If Hollywood ever got ahold of this story, Bossy would never have to worry about her pitiful poverty party again. Bossy would be hostessing wild extravaganza’s, insisting that her party planner use excessive Christmas lights everywhere.
No matter what, Grandma J loves Bossy just as much as she loves Dondi, Walt and Bert. She also wonders if Bossy might be trapsing down to the Blogfest in Virginia this July…because Grandma J would plan ahead and bring extra Ritz crackers.

March 23, 2009 at 9:44 pmI enjoy the family journal. Maybe a recap of what’s happened so far would be helpful, and then PLEASE keep going!

March 24, 2009 at 10:17 amYour family history is what initially drew me to your blog. One thing I’m dying to know is do you have any more wacky stories about that crazy American Indian Lady? Has she been documented anywhere? Like with Child Protective Services (or its forerunner)? And the sheriff guy?
I think you should contact the author Tracy Kidder — this is right up his line. Or maybe Tony Horwitz. You’ve already done all the hard work.
More, please!

March 25, 2009 at 4:08 pmYour family tree section inspired me to blog-publish my own grandmother’s stories. While my stuff is quite different from your approach, I wouldn’t have thought of doing it without your family tree coming first.
Please continue it; it’s fantastic.

March 28, 2009 at 9:04 amDear D-lightful Bossy One-
While you are painting, making toast in you fab-you-lust toaster, or slurping down your Kefir. pronounced like Kiefer, as in Kiefer Sutherland, think about your fabulous family and IF, and only, If you have a stellar idea, and YOU are excited about it … Then you write about the family.
It is brilliant and so fun to read. You are one of the bright spots in the blogosphere.

April 7, 2009 at 12:02 pmHow’d I miss this cry for encouragement? I was just resigned to having to wait and wait for the next installment; so never checked back. So happy that you’ve recommenced, at least a little. Thanks for doing it. I guess you got your encouragement x 189.
