I bet Bossy’s daughter will always remember pushing the buttons. In jolly olde Michigan, we have to fill in the circles with a marker. It’s very grade-school yet very grown-up at the same time.
Get this: Marriage in the Michigan Constitution is defined as one man and one woman (which BURNS MY ASS, excuse my language) but yet we voted in use of medical marijuana and embryonic stem-cell research yesterday. We totally had the ‘defining marriage’ issue on the wrong ballot!
Good job, Bossy’s Daughter! Here in Ohio we have magical touch-screen voting. The nice old lady explained to me all about how to use the machine, even though it was my 3rd time voting with them
I took my 14-year-old sister and let her do the same. She was ecstatic. Even more so knowing that, in four years, she’ll get to elect Barack to a 2nd term herself.
I’ve always taken my kids into the voting booth with me, letting them push the buttons, or touch the screen, or complete the arrow on paper, or whatever new way Denver decides we should vote each time. Now they’re 15 and nearly 13, and this year we sat down with friends to go over all the amendments on our huge ballot, creating a cheat sheet so we could vote quickly. Result: my 15-year-old daughter is so excited to vote for Barack O’Boyfriend’s second term that she can hardly stand it. Big celebration at our house last night!
And her shirt that says, “I want my president to be smarter than I am”? Now it has added words: “Finally, he is!”
Our polling place was very stressed this year. I always have brought my kids with to vote. I took pictures two years ago when my older son was able to vote for the first time. This year I asked on the side I was voting on if they minded if I took a picture of older son signing into vote (not even near the machines) and they said go right ahead. I took one picture and the other side came running over saying there are no pictures allowed. Younger son had to sit and wait for us, he wasn’t allowed to come with me either. A little disappointing.
I am happy you were able to include your daughter!!
Lucky Bossy’s daughter. California got rid of the electronic voting machines and we had to use paper. PAPER!
My boys and I all pressed the big green VOTE button together. I hope they will remember that forever.
YOU STILL push buttons to vote???

In CA we’re all about the little ink dots.
You bet I did

She is still pushing your buttons I see…
In my tiny little town of 3000 we used the electron touch screen voting for the first! time! ever!

I’m still pulling levers to vote.
I’m going around reading everyone’s blog posts and celebrating with my people today! Hurrah!

Two kids in my booth, at 6am with no lines, no waiting, and NO whining!
Bossy’s daughter’s friend Alyssa also got to push the button. Which was a refreshing change from her pushing my buttons!
