Great Danes.
What characters. Everything you ever saw or heard depicted in a Scooby Doo animation is correct; this breed is more human than animal, more horse than dog. Despite their size they are not aggressive in the least, although they may talk your ear off.
But make no mistake, Great Danes are not for the novice dog owner. They require very early and thorough socialization to counteract some of their tendencies to become easily spooked, and they need lots of training because. Would you want to argue with one of these things?
Watching Stella’s adventures has really made me want a Great Dane of my own. Luckily I wouldn’t be a novice dog owner and no I wouldn’t want to argue with one of them…lol
Stella makes me miss my childhood Great Dane Venus.
Oh Stella!!!
Dogs are so silly; they do the funniest things.
Great Danes are a joy and so beautiful.
I want a Stella so badly. The husband? He’s more of a Yorkie-sized person. We have a dog that’s in between, only 80 lbs.
She’s like an eternal toddler imported from Brobdingnag.
Miss Stella’s collar is so beautiful!
Bossy’s Dane is not only Great, she knows how to accessorize.
Though Stella is certainly a star… my eyes roam to the background view of the room. Bossy shows a deft hand at making a cozy home!
Stella is quite a character, as is my dane Rhet Butler. They are certainly an interesting animal
Who told the funny joke? Stella is a pip!
Oddly, she reminds me of Pippa, my Chihuahua mix. I love Stella . . .
That is the best picture ever!
Whatever the conversation is about, Stella is totally winning that argument.
She looks as if she’s in the middle of the biggest roll-on-the-floor-laugh-fest every had at Casa de Blog.
I’m dog-sitting TWO Danes over New Year. One is 7 years, the other is 7 months. Any suggestions? (Aside from spoiling the crud out of them, that is.)
See #95 on what I want for Christmas. ~sigh~
We’ve got to put our senior rescue dog Gideon down today. Life’s been pretty good for him this past year but not lately. Sorry for the downer; I’m sad.
Stella does a great De Niro impression!
Miss Stella is simply magnificent and brings joy to us all!
I love your pics of Stella- she’s so grand!
No, if you want a beginner dog – get a Greyhound
. Looking at them crosseyed is enough to get them to stop *insert offense here* most times! (I can say that because I’m owned by two of the greatest greyhounds in the world – or at least my world).
Early and thorough socialization. Huh. Maybe THAT’S why my daughter is so easily spooked…Where was Bossy’s advice when I was contemplating whether I should have children or dogs?
Wait, Scooby Doo is a Great Dane?? Good to know!
I am the proud servant of my doxie Max – who is definitely a character too.
Some dogs are just more “people” than others..
Question: Which gets more Bossy Air Time? 2 Children or 1 Stella?
Make your voice go deep. Now say woo woo woo woo woo. Now you speak Greyhound. One of the most vocal breeds I have ever owned. I bet Stella could translate, but I think it means “give me another piece of duck breast jerky”.
…Stella, can you say “Ruh Roh”? :o)
Ah yes… the late Great Cosmo was a fabulous watchdog… anyone looking to a bit of mischief had the bejeezus scared out of them by JUST. ONE. BARK. Never looked like hurting anyone, but they were never game to test the theory!!
Merry Christmas from Down Under, Bossy!!!

PS Tuli … don’t let em sit on the couch!!!!

Do you think that Stella would give me a ride if I asked her nicely?
Stella is perfecting her trademark “fetal yet fatal” position.
Bossy’s great dane is just great she burps sunlight!
I love Stella’s ears – floppy and real!
