Welcome to Bossy’s Ear Worm, which features songs currently in Bossy’s headphones. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
David Bowie, Looking For Satellites.
Bossy digs this little piece of hypnotic 1997 electronica — hypnotica! — which Bowie cowrote with the record’s two producers, Reeves Gabrels and Mark Plati. That’s the thing about Bowie, he may not originate musical concepts, but he knows exactly where to go when he wants to incorporate these sounds into his stuff — and Bossy thinks that makes Bowie as much a visionary as the inventor.
Sometimes it’s recognizing which things to lift, and when. Madonna shares this same gift.
Bowie. Yeah! I sure wish Madonna had Bowie’s sense of humor.
Many years ago my husband played guitar in a band called “Little Nemo” and they played a lot of David Bowie songs because the lead singer really sounded like David. I remember especially “Jean Genie” and “Rebel Rebel.”
Also the bass player in my husband’s band name was Zig Zigler. He was called Ziggie. Ziggie Stardust.
