Bossy’s (No) Book Tour is over. 42 days and 12,000 miles and hundreds and hundreds of sweet generous faces across the country. With luck like that, who needs a book? If you enjoyed traveling with Bossy these past six weeks, please consider leaving Bossy a comment to explain — she can’t wait to read your feedback. Just as soon as she naps, with a side of sleep.
Thanks for keeping Bossy company, council. You truly are the best.
Welcome home Sweet Bossy!
Thanks for stopping by Kansas City! I was so excited to meet you and you are just as fabulous as your posts indicate.
-Linda in KC
SOOO much fun in Cambridge with BOSSY and the Boston area blogger’s Saturday night! I’m sad your road trip is over, it was an adventure every day! Not that BOSSY isn’t an adventure *every* single day.
Congrats on a great successful tour. I can say that because you met ME! Really it was a blast meeting you and following your trip along the way. Hope you make it to Madison for No Book Tour 2011. I promise you better service. Even if I have to be the waiter myself.
There’s no place like home.
Jenn in San Diego is not waiting for you to come back–I’ll be on your doorstep next year to take my “After” picture with you. My picture with you in front of my house was a major “come to Jesus” moment in the diet and exercise department–and a year from now will be my “Before” picture!
Good times, good times. Great seeing you the other night. Glad you got home safely. Tell Pennsylvania to get ready for the arrival of the Scratches Family.
PS: Condolences on your impending breakup with (Harrison) Ford. *womp-womp*
It was fantabulous meeting you and the other Boston area bloggers and non bloggers that got together. Thanks for providing the chance to meet everyone!
Glad that you made it safely. I’m sorry that you didn’t make it down here this time. You still owe me a post talking about how awesome I am!
It was fabulous meeting you and hearing about your travels and “meeting” your different councils. I would say do it again, do it again. But, really, all that driving and changing in the car-that’s just not fair. Glad you and Harrison Ford made it home safe.
It was fantastic meeting you with the DC area bloggers! I only wish I could have been a stowaway on the rest of the journey! Thanks for taking me along with you, even if it was just virtually…
Welcome home! See you next time you hit New York City? Like, August?
Welcome home Bossy, I didn’t get to meet you but have avidly followed your adventures. Especially loved the time spent in Marfa!
Wish I could have made the Denver meetup…dang kids and their dang awards nights… next time? Is there going to be a next time?
It was great to see you in Detroit. I’m glad you didn’t spark an international incident accidentally crossing into Canada.
Hope you had a great time.
It was a vicarious thrill! So happy that you’re home with your faculties (basically) intact.
So easy to explain: You are a gem.
Thanks for Bossy-fying St. Louis and beyond.
So glad to meet you! Thanks for coming out west! We love you out here, but are glad you are home safe and sound. Stretch out, relax, and have someone drive YOU somewhere!
Whaddaya mean it’s over?! Get back in that car, woman!! (Actually, I loved hanging out with you a bit. It was great to see you. And the free Burger King lunches haven’t been bad either.)
Donner’s Pass was the best ever! Glad you’re home safe and sound!
So glad to hear that you made it home safely! I had such a great time meeting you and the other Houston-area bloggers when you came into town. I hope that you and Harrison Ford have an amicable break-up, or maybe the Ford people are going to surprise you and let you keep him…
Thank you, Bossy! Hooray to Harrison for bringing you home safely.
Welcome home. Glad you made it safely. I’ve enjoyed reading about your journeys.
Having you here at the beach in Malibu was lovely — I so enjoyed seeing your pix, seeing how you saw this place. Next time, we’ll make sure your husband, John Cusack, can join us. xo
It was such a pleasure to meet you and talk chickens and dogs and kids and cameras.
Now go sleep for 4 or 5 days!
Welcome home, Bossy! I have LOVED following your amazing adventures and enjoyed meeting you and the other bloggers here in San Diego. You inspired me to at least start tweeting (@latinaxmarriage) and maybe one day this too will turn into a blog. Take a LONG summer’s nap and recoup. Who was happier to see you–the kids, husband or Stella?
It was wonderful to meet the woman who is bossy. But I also loved meeting other austin bloggers and seeing reports from around the country.
TOTS!
Welcome home, Bossy! Sorry I missed you in Seattle, it won’t happen again!
I don’t know how you did it, but you did. I’m still glowing from meeting you in Nashville. I liked you even more in person than on your blog, and that’s saying a lot. I hope you have a wonderful, restful summer.
In three days, when you wake up, you will see dozens of comments from all the people who had a wonderful time meeting you and other local bloggers. What a marvelous evening!
Welcome Home Bossy….. sorry I missed you here in Denver, really was hoping to meet up with you. Enjoyed traveling the states with you, hope to meet up the next time you pass through!
Get some rest!
Enjoyed reading along and hope your next tour hits MN.
Remember griping about your own bed? How’s it feel now?
Welcome home.
Thank you so much for coming all the way to southern California. It was truly my pleasure to get to meet you. Maybe next year instead of you doing all the traveling..you could get a conference room at the local Holiday Inn and we could all come out to see you!
I loved reading about your tour (would love to take one myself but have a major problem driving over bridges. Also I’ve only filled a car with gas once in my life and would probably hate that part). The Donner Pass post was my favorite, especially the very happy ending.
That’s a lotta miles, Bossy! I have to wonder, will you in fact be writing a book about your tours? Because then you could make a whole OTHER tour, to promote your book about the tours where you didn’t have a book! Right?
Glad you made it home safe and sound, Miss Bossy…your Portland Council (human, canine and feline) truly enjoyed meeting you.
Now get some sleep!
Well Bossy?????? I’m glad you are home safely. As a gramps, it is my job to worry about everyone—especially when they are driving (is that a word?)
I am thrilled to have met you. Now I know why you do these road trips
love
gramps
Great meeting (and shooting!) you in Cambridge! The video came out quite well, I think, and the radio mic sounds AWESOME. Good luck transitioning to home life!
Erin
Got to say “hi honey” in person. Whew!
Glad you made it home safe and sound. Thanks for trekking ALL the way to So Cal – great to meet you – and thanks for your writing – laughter is the best thing for the soul!!
Loved meeting you here in Madison, Bossy! And I’m glad you made it home safely. Enjoy reconnecting with the family and Steve. xoxoxo
…that and Peets coffee of course…
Ever so much fun to follow your journey & to be part of the San Diego tour stop! I really love the snapshots of the country that you provided. I am glad you made it home for some much needed real SLEEP!
I am so very glad that I got to kick it with Bossy in Denver.
Because you are one cool momma.
We loved having you visit Austin, Bossy! Ya’ll come back now, ya hear?
Had so much fun meeting you Bossy! Glad to hear you made it home alive! Now keep resting your poor little eyes. And give Baby David a hug for me.
Wonderful meeting you, lovely Bossy! I’m glad you’re back home though, so I can stop worrying about you sleeping at truck stops. Sheesh!
I’m so glad that you made it home safely! But more importantly (not really) I have been able to use the phrase “Dusty Stunt Baguette” FOUR times today, with FOUR different people. After they look at me with awe and amazement that I could come up with something so profound, I give credit to Bossy.. who I read every day because she’s a freaking word genius! ( and funny and cute, with a great family and takes such great trip, to whom I can live vicariously through) . Thanks again Bossy. Welcome Home.
Did we have fun tagging along on that rollicking (no) book tour? Oh yes, you bet we did! I was exhausted (on your behalf) even before you left. In your place, right now I think I’d need to sleep for a whole entire week to even begin to recover! But oh, the memories. Our son, who is the proprietor of a hostel, once described what he does as being in the business of “making memories” for people. And see, what I think Bossy probably does know at one level, but may not quite fully appreciate is that she is in the business of making memories for other people too. Did I actually drive across country in the (ever-so-handsome and reliable Harrison) Ford? No, but it sure *feels* like I did! Did I consume that insomnia-inducing molten chocolate cake and coffee ice cream at 8PM? Thank Goddess no, I did not, but it sure sounds like fun. And was I finally in Sacramento, San Diego, or St. Louis with Angela and the rest of your council there, nope. But the anticipation and de-briefing afterward was all tons of fun. so if your hidden question here, Bossy, is “was it worth it?”, I’m absolutely sure I speak for the rest of your readers with a resounding “Yes!”. In this age of virtual this, and vicarious that you did a lot for a lot of people along the way, Bossy. Here’s to the folks at Ford for helping you cover all those miles in safety and in style. And here’s to YOU for the savvy, stamina, and social graces it took to make it happen for *all* of us!
PS: How much taller and more grown-up did Bossy’s daughter seem when you finally walked back into that warm and wonderful family house again?
Thanks for letting us travel with you. You missed Vegas again, looks like I’ll have to travel back east for a ‘visit Bossy’ tour.
Was thrilled to meet you in person, but you know what? I felt like I was reuniting with an old friend. Because really, that’s how your blog makes us feel (I think I can safely say that for a lot of us).
Thanks for the sacrifices, the fun and the risks, the road poos, the great photos, and your unique, funny voice tying it all together. Well, not the road poos so much.
I’m sitting alone in a bar in Indianapolis waiting for you. Since Harrison is now parked in your driveway, I’m getting the feeling that you may be a no-show. I’ll just finish this glass and head on home.
(Rest well, Bossy! You deserve some zzzz’s).
Welcome home
So Bossy, when’s the International No Book Tour?! Your British Council awaits…
Oh yay for you, HOME! I loved meeting you, you kind of remind me of myself, but taller. The night of the San Diego Bossy party was the night my life went all wobbly, so it kind of stands out. Have you started imprinting a smile on your doc yet?
Enjoy home
Jacquie
You are a ROCK. STAR. Congrats on a successful trip, friend.
LOVED getting to spend CONCENTRATED time with you. You’re an angel. Really, really.
K.
Welcome home, Bossy!
Happy Ending to THE {No} Book Tour!!
Even though I almost checked the “meh, next time” box on the Scottsdale, AZ stop of Bossy’s tour for an aimless trip to Target (really, what was I thinking?!), I’m hopelessly googly eyed for Bossy and have kept that googly eye, though sometimes a little dizzying, keen on this here blog and intend to do so for a long time to come…or until I’m the president of Bossy’s Arizona Council, which, could be on basis of self-appointed, but we’ll leave that to the masses. We will.
xoxo you sweet thang!
Being home isn’t as exciting as being on the No-Book Road Tour, but you’re still the star of the show in my book. Thank you so much for coming to Cambridge and giving us Bostonians a chance to bask in the same light as Bossy. It was excellent, awesome, and so freaking fun. Give those kids a big hug before they take off for parts known but not home, and have a wonderful summer winding down. Because the next road show needs planning!
I just finished reading your (no)book. I couldn’t put it down. I haven’t slept in days. Now I’m six shades of crazy.
You may also know me as Pamela Sue Martin, Mary Louise Parker or Elizabeth Perkins. All of us enjoyed dinner, drinks and conversation with you in Detroit.
Meeting you in Austin was an unbelievable experience! And meeting the Austin bloggers was amazing! My haiku for that day was:
I met them tonight:
The sisters I never knew.
Bossy came to town!
And when you feel that way, you know you’re following the whole tour. I get it.
My butt would be SO sore if I were you, I just might never sit again.
Glad you made it to Boston! So nice to meet you in person.
Welcome back home.
Next time, Bossy, aim for Yosemite. So sorry I missed you this time around. Glad you’re home safe and sound.
Oh my dearest Bossy—I was thinking on your greatness the other day and I realized that I have discovered SO MANY incredible and wise and FUNNY writers/bloggers because of you and I gave thanks for that moment when I happened upon your blog and was hooked from the first imaginative, HILARIOUS, get outta my head prose-post and it opened up this whole world to me. Thank you for that and thank you for your sublime shoe appreciation and for your ability to bring us all together.
Welcome home to you and Harrison Ford. It was quite the adventure. Sometimes I followed you on FB and sometimes on the blog.
I don’t like driving mountains in good weather, Donner Pass was very scary. I once read a novel titled something like The Sharp Teeth of Love. You might like it.
The NO BOOK TOUR was great from afar but you sure did push yourself awfully hard. Maybe NEXT time you can figure a way to be nice to Bossy while on the No Book Tour.
Welcome home Bossy! I still think you’re a little crazy for doing this (again) but was it was so nice to see you!
You are a brave voyager, and I have loved reading of your travels, but I feel better knowing you are home. Is your enormous dog speaking to you yet?
Glad you are home safe and sound. Never did hear if you had any BBQ in Texas that you actually liked. And what about the Pie??
I realize this isn’t exactly a food blog – but are you going to make breakfast at BK a habit? Inquiring minds want to know!
Bossy, so glad you made it home in one piece! I had a great time meeting you in Houston, and all the other bloggers, too. That was my first blog meet up! Thanks for stopping by Houston, now maybe you should take a nap.
Welcome home, sweetest Bossy!
Thank you so much for gracing my guest room with your presence during your Nashville stop. However since you left us, our fair city was visited by a disastrous flood of biblical proportions and I somehow pinched a nerve in my back and have been all stove up (Southern-speak) for about 3 weeks. Not saying you are responsible in any way of course, but perhaps if you had given up on that silly ‘no book tour’ idea and just permanently parked Harrison Ford and your winsome purple dress in Nashville for the whole six weeks maybe, just maybe we could all have avoided this whole unpleasantness.
But then of course the rest of the nation would have missed out on the whole Bossy experience and I am far too generous-hearted to truly wish for that. So, I’m very very glad you had a great time and that you are now safely nestled in the bosom of your family– but do come back soon. Nashville needs you and your good juju. Seriously, that flood was scary.
Love you crazy,
Tori
Bossy, you are amazing!! No news there. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to hear about all of the deep thoughts that you conjured over the course of 42 days and 12,000 miles. Most of all, I hope it was a “successful” journey. Next stop: Oz!!?
I’m very glad to hear you’re home safe and well, Bossy. It was an amazing trip – inspiring follow-through on a brilliant idea. Will you tell us how you got the sponsors on board? Or did they come to you?
I’m just sorry that you aimed so low. 12,000 miles, pah! And only one country! Now, if you had ventured downunder, THAT would have been impressive.
Your past 42 days sounds way better than my past 42 days. Wishing I lived somewhere less remote so I could have joined your legions, even briefly. Glad you made it back safely!
Hi Bossy! I had so much fun in Plymouth with you. Can’t wait to go back and have more hard cider. And a designated driver! See you next time! There will be a next time, right?
What a trip! So glad you shared it with us and that you’re back in the bosom of your family!
It seems like it was just yesterday that you were here in Dallas. It sure was awesome meeting you and fellow local bloggers. Between twitter, facebook and your blog – keeping up with your (no) book tour has been a blast. Time for rest and junkfood detox!
Welcome home!! I loved following your amazing journey. Looking forward to hearing how things went on the homefront in your absence and how thrilled Bossy’s husband, Bossy’s son, Bossy’s daughter and Bossy’s Great Dane were to see you again!
I’m so glad you are home and getting some sleep and rest and all the great stuff that surrounds you at home. I have sheets I call “mommy hug sheets” for those times it seems a little more cuddles are needed. Even old ladies like to feel comfort.
My cousin, Pye, and I were in Dallas way back when this whole no book tour started and we were so in awe of meeting your sweet self. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to talk with you some and to see your friend’s home…the church one.
Just joining the chorus to say it was a privilege to meet you in person at the DC-area meet-up. (You remember us right and not just the creepy videographer guy?)
Glad you are home safe and sound.
Wish your comments section were set up to click “like” under some comments. I’d do that under BossysMom’s sweet welcome home.
Dear Bossy, you are a gracious, classy lady. What a joy to share a meal with you over Pinot Noir and ghosts du jour. Hope we can do it again some day here in the Berkshires or on your own turf near Philly. Your home looks so, so … Swarthmorian!
Glad the journey ended well.
I missed you in Seattle but have enjoyed the ride along with you. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome home, Bossy! Seems like you were just here. It was an honor to help get you started!
Glad for you adventures and and glad you are home. I will be starting my blog soon, and then I can be an official member of the club. Looking forward to your afterthoughts, and hearing of the goings on at the home front while you were on your trek.
dear BOSSY~
i’m still truly bummed that i missed you in portland. first, there was the episode with the deep-fried jalapenos. then, the overwhelming deadlines i was facing. forces of nature working against me. hopefully, you’ll make another round to meet with your council.
also: how did i miss that you live in PA? cuz i grew up in PA, still have bouts of homesickness after all these years.
but i’m glad you’re home.
Bossy-
Thanks for stopping by Detroit City! It was a true delight meeting you. Thanks for doing what you do and inspiring myself and others to keep doing what we do! Your a GEM! Thanks for keeping it real…Welcome home – enjoy the rest of spring and summer- you deserve it!
Deb from Toledo
Bossy- I don’t know how you did it. I drive 3 hours to my sisters house in Wisconsin and I am ready for a nap.
I hope there won’t be a request for a final report on Bossy’s husbands, because the Official Husband Tallyer of Bossy’s Roadtrip became overwhelmed and lost count somewhere between (Harrison) Ford, Bossy’s Real Husband, and a Holiday Inn Express.
It was fantastic seeing you again, and I can’t wait for the next tour. Please be sure to bring that hunky cameraman to the Richmond get together next time. Actually, you don’t have to wait for the next tour to show us that cameraman again.
Welcome home! It was so nice to see you again. Your San Diego council looks forward to next year’s (No) Movie Tour.
You’re back already? That was fast…it must’ve been the Ford.
Enjoyed your fatigued stop in Atlanta. See you in New York in a few weeks.
Shhhh shhhhh,….she’s sleeping……….
It was fun to meet you (Kansas City) and I enjoyed the blogger get together. But man oh man that is a lot of effort on your part. How did you get started on that long and winding road?
Sorry your (No) Book Tour didn’t bring you to my neck of the woods, but I thoroughly enjoyed hopping into Harrison (!) every morning to hear about where we went the night before while I was sleeping! Can’t wait for the next one – and welcome home!
Heavens to Murgatroid! I can’t believe it’s been 6 weeks already! What the heck…I think I fell into a time warp.
Welcome home!
Loved seeing you in Chicago and I traveled vicariously the rest of the way!
Hey Mom! Bossy’s home! Bossy’s home! Can I go over and play? Awwe, yeah, I know she just pulled in, but c’mon mom, she’s been gone for sooooooooo loooooooooong! What do you mean I should let her unpack and rest? Mom! It’s not fair! *stomp, stomp, stomp*
(welcome home)
all Souphead could think of while reading about Bossy’s (no) book tour was “i hope Bossy is being careful on the road” especially when viewing her pictures that were obviously taken from the driver’s seat of a moving (Harrison) Ford.
Glad you made it through the 12,000 miles.
Just did 4,000 with my hubby (he did 90% of the driving allowing for hundreds of pictures of blurry road signs and cows) and it was exhausting. Don’t know how you did it all on your own.
xoxo
