As Bossy mentioned the other day, it’s planting time at the Bossy compound. Which means Bossy is making more of less, stretching seven starter Petunia plants across the expanse of window boxes and containers that dot the front of Bossy’s house. And the results are dramatic, where dramatic equals sad, sad, sad.
But that’s not what this Favorite Thing is about. No, it’s about Bossy’s brother. Yesterday when he was dropping Bossy off after a long day of painting in a small space, he and Bossy laughed so hard at her little petunia plants straining to grow beyond the lip of the window box, and then he did an imitation of the Petunias that nearly put Bossy in an early grave. And it’s just what Bossy needed.
Thanks, Bossy’s brother.
Whenever I read about you and your brother and the fun you have together…it makes me say a little prayer that my daughter and son will have such a great relationship when they are adults…right now that is not so evident…
Would Bossy be willing to lend me her brother? I could use side splitting laughs.
I could swear that Bossy’s brother is doing his best impression of a Dr. Suess character in that picture…
Too funny.
I think he did a pretty accurate impression of the petunias straining to see the world over the edge of their boxes!
What a clown! Just what everyone should cultivate! Not only petunias, but fun with life!
Lovin’ Bossy today. The world is grim, but Bossy isn’t.
Man, I needed that laugh today — thanks!
You need to get some perennials in those boxes, my friend. Columbine would be nice — tall, spreads like crazy, easy to care for. It wouldn’t give you the Dilbert look you are currently going for, but it would be low maintenance.
Love. It. And yes, I’m jealous that I don’t have a funny brother. Or any brother.
That is seriously hilarious.
–>The same impersonation works for my sad and few amounts of flowers in my window boxes too. At least I can see them from the inside looking out.
Bossy’s brother is Fun-ny.

bravo on the imitation. Always nice to have a great brother around to cheer you up
Awesome! Thanks Bossy’s brother!
The empty cup holder underneath the window box is pretty sad, too!
Poverty Party Idea: Find a few pieces of weed-ish ground cover that is growing in your lawn. You know what I mean. We all have it. Bossy, your’s has beautiful purple flowers? Anyway, put that in your CONTAINED flower pots. They will grow fast and lush, and drape down over the edges and look really great. Combined with your petunias, or all alone, as at my house, you’re all set!.
Bossy’s brother has become one of my favorite things too.
Ms. Cranky Pants,
Meeeee too!
My brother puts me in the grave too. In that good way. I miss my brother. Thanks, bossy for bringing up the fact that I live 1500 miles away from my very funny, very amusing, very I-taught-him-everything-he-knows brother!
Never had a brother, but if I did, BB is the kind I would want. That imitation ALMOST makes it all worthwhile, having the pathetically small and thin, yearning lonely little petunias!
Do take a photo later this summer so we can see what they’ve bushed out into. Or didn’t. Don’t forget to pinch their tips.
Haha, Bossy! Thanks for the laugh!
You need to feritilize your brother.
That photo is fantastic, good morning laugh!
Awww. I wish I had a brother I could cut up with! That’s hilarious.
My Container Gardening book suggests filling in flower boxes with thyme or parsley. You could start them from seeds and when they get too big, use the clippings in food.
I’m glad I swallowed my Diet Pepsi before I saw the picture of Bossy’s Brother.
He makes me miss my very funny brother who lives 1400 miles away.
I miss both of my very very funny brothers. And now I miss Bossy’s brother a lot, too.
Stupid blog crush. RAWR.
I don’t think I’ve laughed like that since I was five.
Not that it was a LOT. It wasn’t; it was just a few short happy happy seconds… of literally LAUGHING LIKE A FIVE-YEAR-OLD. Hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee! I kinda felt like I should have had Juicy Juice coming out of my nose.
Thanks, Bossy! :o)))))))))
I see the Dr Seuss essence. Even more hilarious. The way his head is tilted and his expression—he’s got a Who from Whoville going on.
Lol your brother is a hoot.
Have you considered silk flowers instead? They’d last practically forever and in a variety of colors I’m sure you could find something that could reach…err really make those shutters pop. =)
Greg looks like he’s from Whoville! :O
One cheap gardener to another.. Put some more dirt in the planters and buy yourself a couple seed packs of nasturtiums. They grow like mad! Cheap, cheap but very prolific and easy growers.
