Here’s Walt, and he’s down at the job riding the rigging of a 100-ft boom crane. The cables he’s using for balance are reinforced steel, and run from a winch behind the operator’s cab straight up and over the crane’s boom and jib to this 300-pound hook, which keeps the cables taut even when there isn’t a load.
Walt’s in his element pulling stunts like this for his laughing buddies below. He’s limber, with the reflexes of a cat—and lucky thing because by day, Walt walks and welds the high beams of the oil refinery he has watched take shape from the ground up.
