Suffering from an arthritic hip, 30-year-old Californian Floyd Landis dropped to 11th place before manhandling the Alps on Thursday and recovering 7 ½ minutes of his lost time. Yesterday’s final result placed Landis a full 57 seconds ahead of second place winner Oscar Pereiro from Spain.
“I kept fighting, never stopped believing,” Landis said moments after receiving the winning yellow jersey.
