On Harvard Univerity’s campus there’s a statue of John Harvard that contains The Three Lies. One lie is the year the school was founded (1646 not 1648). The next lie is that John Harvard actually founded the college (he didn’t). And the last lie is the statue itself since there is no actual record of what the guy looked like.
In any case people come from far and wide, in car’s brimming with gum wrappers, to rub the statue’s shoe for good luck. And it’s now rubbed clean.
