Excellent Road Trip Day 32. Detroit Wins For Latest Night.
This is what two in the morning looks like. It’s Bossy’s slider, one of many burgers to emerge from a paper bag after one of the Detroit bloggers made an emergency run to the nearest White Castle.
It’s pretty crafty how Bossy’s face is accented and illuminated in all the group shots. You really did read the book with your new camera at the beauty shop that day!
they sell white castle burgers in the freezer section of my grocery store. they don’t look like that. bossy is having more fun than me, again. I gotta get a saturn.
Seriously, Detroit. We are so challenging you to a party-off. White Castle burgers are what you serve at a party for middle school boys. Did someobody bring a case of orange soda too?
…That is one s-a-d lookin’ burger… Yeah Bossy, you eat a bag of those and YOU’LL be making an emergency run! They don’t call it “The Porcelain Palace” for nothin’ you know…lol :o)
also, i kind of wish i had another slider right now.
p.s.
bossy, i’m totally going to rat you out about your disgusting ‘hangover cure’ a little later tonight. i just want you to know that you’re not getting away with that nonsense.
i mean, i took notes after all.
Oh, White Castle is gross. Meat paste on a bun. And the last time I was in Detroit I saw a raging car fire too. It was middle of the day and no one even blinked!
I’m sorry I couldn’t make the Michigan Get Together. I’m sure the WC’s will make it one of the more memorable stops on your journey. 🙂
This was my quote of the day yesterday and it made me think of Bossy’s Adventure:
Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen.
You’re making me pine for my hometown, Bossy, and that hardly EVER happens!
Nothing like a moist, onion-laden slider after a long night of drinking and dancing. I keep waiting for White Castle to come to Texas but it’s been decades, I guess it ain’t happening.
Im realizing that one day bossy will go home, and that day is soon. I checked out your itinerary to see just how many stops you have left, and I think it is 2, or by now, 1 or none.
I also noticed, that your itinerary left off the best stop of all; OC/Laguna Beach. It was as if you went from SD to LA and didnt get to enjoy the guacamole and bougainvillea, but Im glad you did stop for us/them.
I wonder if this morning you are home, getting hugs from the fam?
OMG! You know you’ve met another serious Cusack lover when you see the ‘Jack Bull’ VHS on her dog’s nose. I thought I was the only Blogger out there with that movie in my Cusack collection.
Did you have a drink at the Green Mill while in Chicago?
Do you have the Lloyd Dobbler finger puppet as well?
Cheese? Detroit steered you so. Wrong. The white box should not be degraded with cheese. I hope they didn’t give your ketchup or mustard either. Bun, burger, onions, pickle, grease, cardboard, only after 2 am. The Zen of WC.

April 26, 2008 at 11:11 amOh, thank GOD I left before the White Castle visit. I might be clinically dead by now.
But guess what I saw on the way home? A CAR FIRE. A really, really good one. Detroit after midnight is totally awesome.

April 26, 2008 at 11:15 amNext time you’re in the south, try Krystal – kinda like a White Castle. You might be able to tell the difference BEFORE 2am, but probably not after.
