It’s Customer Satisfaction Day here on I am Bossy—where day equals the weekend and maybe a part of Monday.
Here’s the deal: since Bossy is redoing her site with the help of her talented design team, now is the time for you to tell Bossy about the features you like and the features you don’t.
Which things in the left column do you enjoy and which things make you wish you were instead performing your own appendectomy?
What are your Bossy peeves and grievances with the current design or content or site functionality? Come on—Bossy can take it, where take it equals flinging her computer from an upstairs window and putting herself to bed for the year.
Have at it!
Leave out BlogHer. 🙂
(since they leave out others)
This probably isn’t as helpful, but do what you like I’ll still be coming by the read!
-Kim
Hi Bossy, I read your site every single morning of the week and check your fav things guess & press after. I’d prob look at the other stuff too but have already seen it all (hear reading EVERY day). So there you have it…nothing critical to say, well maybe the left and right sides are a tad busy but you need all that stuff. xoxo
The only thing I don’t care for is how busy the page looks. I don’t hate it so much I’d give myself an appendectomy though.
I really like it as is. I check in the a.m., play “guess and press”, see what’s going on in “favorites” (great add to the site) and then enter any contests (hee).
I think one thing I like is that you consistently update at about the same time, it’s quick/easy to get through (and the comments are worth coming back for!). Makes me feel less guilty reading at work. Party on Bossy!
Where’s the “home” button????
😉
Bossy grievance? That’s an oxymoron.
guess & press, the family tree, bossy’s favorite things – my faves!
I love your ‘guess and press’ your ‘family tree’ and your ‘favorite things’
Other than that, I completely ignore the stuff on the right and everything else that is on the left.
Love Guess and Press and Favorite Things and Family Tree plus the daily Bossy Post. In short, love it all. My only regret is not being able to catch up on the Guess and Press and Favorite Things, but you explained why. Love Bossy’s creativity, so whatever you come up with should be fun to see.
I love Guess and Press. Except I never Guess. I just go ahead and Press.
That weird looking creature that’s above today’s post? I could do without seeing him again. He creeped me out.
My favourite parts are the guess and press and the family tree – but I like to read everything when I have time. I’d leave it the way it is!
I don’t feel so bad after reading the other comments…I think the only thing I’ve ever clicked on in the side columns is the picture of you and John, and watched the video. I just like to read and go. 🙂 I love your blog just the way it is, but I am not making full use of all the do-hickies.
i have gotten a kick out of the whole bossy words to songs. seriously laughed until i’ve cried at times. so funny to me. i don’t click on much, but it doesn’t bother me for it to be there. as long as the main posts are easy to read i am good. and you know…your site layout is all about how comfortable i am so thanks for checking with me!
I don’t do well with change, so I’d vote for everything to stay status quo – love it all as is.
As the last person on the planet to still use dial-up internet, my only request is not to do whatever the pioneer woman did when she overhauled her site, because after she did that I could not load it without having to take off a week from work waiting for it to come up. Right now yours takes a little bit of time to load, but it is not an unbearable wait. I can get a good two swallows of wine in while I wait, not a problem.
The sidebars are really cluttery. I would organize them, like, your stuff on one side, and the ads, which I don’t care about and ignore anyway, on the other. In ignoring the ads, I sort of bypass seeing your personal stuff.
Also, I hate that dark gray background color. For your great personality you need a lively and colorful template.
vuboq thinks there should be a GIANT link to his blog! maybe right across the top. in BOLD! And SPARKLY! *hehe*
actually, things I *heart* (besides the wonderful posts) are the Guess&Press and Favorite Things!
Happy Weekend! *smooches*
The only thing that annoys me is that I spent about 15 minutes the first day I found the site trying to find the archives button to read old Bossy. Then when I did find it, I was too mad to read just then. So I ran away.
So I guess it’s a little cluttered and could use a little organizing. But I love all the pictures! Don’t move the pictures!
I like everything. As long as you keep the site uniquely bossy, I will still love it and check in every day!
It’s a-l-l good.
the only thing Madness hates is that she isnt on the blog roll .. She’ll BE the mayo .. lowfat at that .. oh wait, Madness is ANYTHING BUT lowfat! ha!
Love
Madness
I like “guess & press” and “favorite things”. Keep the links to the “movies” on the right side. They always come in handy when I need a laugh.
p.s. I forgot to say that your cartoon drawings are my absolute favorite thing, please to be including more of those!
Hey Girlfriend Bossinator. I dont think theres anything that the coastal nest dislikes about your site, In other words I love the way you swing it, girl. So, onward. I cant wait to see what you do to the place! You and all your peeps, that is..
off to the beach

You are truly unique and I love your blog. The only thing I wish for is more tweets on twitter. 🙂 Keep it up Bossy!
My only “beef” is how slowly it loads on my iPhone. As long as the site loads faster after the redo, I’ll be thrilled! I’ll keep reading either way though.
More. Barbie.
I love guess and press and favorite things and your family tree. Like others, I’m not a big fan of how busy it looks. I am old and feeble and get overwhelmed easily.
i think you should do a feature where one can buy bossy art and the proceeds go to charity, where bossy art equals that that laughing donkey and charity equals bossy’s daughter’s college fund.
OMG, Donna, that’s right. More reenactments with Barbies! LOVE!
What’s not to like? Except for maybe the chick in the bikini on the right.
currently i like the wine on the left side.
a chronological archive of all posts would be great… unless i’ve missed that?
I always click “guess and press” and “favorite things.” Keep those! Maybe more new daily content like that.
I LOVE the tutorials and the movie remakes using barbies and tampons.
Delurking to say there are no negatives. I check your blog often and enjoy it. What others describe as clutter, I view as appealing quirkiness. I say, follow your own muse. You have great instincts!
Bossy, I love your blog just the way it is. Better archiving would be a bonus and I totally LOVE LOVE LOVE the bossy art. Seriously. How do you make it? Is that just one of the many things that are better on a Mac?
Love guess and press, LOVE hearing about Stella, love the family tree, love the favorites.
Could live without the Kindergarten tuts, the Barbies and such are sorta creepy. Sorry, still love visiting every morning while drinking my morning cup of joe.
Hands down, your site is my very favorite for content. It’s the one I always save for last, like the mashed potatoes on my plate or Whatever Thing Has Cheese.
But for design… I have to say that my favorite blog belongs to La Dooce. DANG, her site looks good. And part of that is the simplicity: there are always FOUR THINGS TO LOOK AT: Daily Chuck, Daily Photo, Daily Style, and then her blog entry. And I like that manageability: the thumbnails of each Daily thing at the top, so I can see right away if they’re new. But she used to have a great feature that I miss: links to odd stuff she’d pass on now and then–not shopping, just a collection of EVERYTHING, random and quirky. I do miss that in her redesign. Otherwise, it’s just amazing. (How nice it must be to be married to a full-time live-in designer, huh?)
I love Guess N Press and Favorite Things, and when there’s a new family tree entry I look at that, too. When I am blue, I look at your John Cusak or Dooce soundslides or your Headless Barbie African Queen if I don’t have time to watch Ferris Bueller. It’s like taking a year’s worth of Prozac in five minutes, I swear.
At one time or another, I’ve clicked on almost everything. I think you could lose the categories. And yeah, the BlogHer stuff; I’ve *never* clicked on that. And how do you quantify your Top Five? Are those YOUR favorites, or OURS? Just curious…
A survey? Farty loves surveys! Not really, but BOSSY surveys are different, where different=important.
So. When Farty was waiting for the main BOSSY page to load, he opened Guess & Press and Favourite Things seperately, then checked the rest of the left sidebar for updates.
And remembered that he’s been meaning to check out that “Jesus is Best Bachelor” post *clicky*.
Never really noticed Categories till now. Meh. Keep it.
Right side? Not so much, apart from the Blogroll…nearly everything else is duplicated on the left.
And Farty almost always forgets about Alpha Mom. It’s good, so BOSSY should make it more prominent, er, somehow.
Good luck!
Me too- Guess and Press and Favorite Things are the only things other than your daily post that I read. Never look at the stuff on the right. Sorry. I will right now!
This customer is SO satisfied by your donkey graphic today, she doesn’t care what you put on the left sidebar. She would hang the donkey graphic on her wall. Do you sell your graphics? Perhaps that’s what you should put over there…
I *love* the original artwork you’ve been spicing up your posts with. *Gorgeous.*
Please lose the Barbie reenactments, it’s serial killerish. Seriously, yes way ….
I enjoy the guess/press, stories of Walt, and favs.
I’ve honestly never clicked on anything on the right side of the screen.
Otherwise awesome entertaining read after I put the munchkins to bed at night.
My favorite button on the left is the family tree archives which I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading. I do think that there are too many archives buttons too. I would group them all together somehow, and maybe make smaller buttons for each. I can see that you’re trying to mix up post info with ads, with merchandise, etc., but it just becomes confusing to the eye. Sections for each would be better. Sorry, not much help.
I adore your site – the guess and press, my favorite things, the sweet faces (not) of your ancestors. Just wish Stella had her own column! I can only imagine your world from Stella’s point of view!
Okay, Sister, I thought about this for a long time (Through one whole shower!). I love your blog. LOVE it. The sidebars have a lot of stuff in them, yes. But it’s good stuff. And it’s uniquely BOSSY. Like one commenter said, it’s appealingly quirky.
I also love your pic in your banner and love that you use it three times with slightly different tints.
I love your use of Helvetica.
One thing that I would like to see tweaked a bit is your banner. I would like it to not blend into the gray on the outside of the page. I’d be happy to help you with this (and by help I mean collaborate and give you ideas, possibly mock up a few specs–for free of course).
Otherwise, don’t spend too much time fixing what ain’t broke. We all love you for a reason.

Oh, I guess that means I like EVERYTHING….
I read the posts and don’t click on anything else. I’m lazy like that.
Speaking of lazy … What don’t I like? The fact that I might have to actually email you a photo or I get booted from your posse. Also? I liked it when you used to actually comment back. Like, on my site.
That said, I suck ass at commenting. I’m sporadic. At best.
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!!
Amen
I love it all. (How’s that for generic feedback?! – maybe I should run for President, eh, Stewart?!)
