This sign. It’s in Bossy’s neighborhood, and Bossy passes it a few times a week, either by car or on foot. A perfectly positioned bicycle reflector transforms an otherwise common warning for deer into The Watch for Rudolph.
Someone did that in my grandma’s neighborhood too, but they used a much smaller red dot. My neighbor has one of those signs stuck in his front yard (did he steal it from somewhere?) and I always want to put one on his. Maybe this will be the year.
We have clever people in Queensland who like to mess with public images too… for instance in Rockhampton, we have a whole series of bull statues (Beef Capital of Australia and all)… do you think ANY of these bulls are COMPLETE in the MALE sense of the word BULL? Uh uh! Everyone blames the uni students and their “initiation” ceremonies … hmmmm.
When they scrape all of the other bumper stickers and band stickers and political stickers off of our deer sign, they always leave the red dot sticker on his nose. Even the road crews (or community service sentence servers?) love it.
I LOVE that sign! I have a special daughter named Vivian who is 14 and loves Rudolph. She wears Rudolph pajamas and Rudolph underwear all year round and wanted a Rudoph party for her birthday last year, which is so convenient since her birthday happens to be in JUNE (thank goodness for eBay). I’m going to print your Rudolph crossing sign for her. She will love it.
LOL! I love that!
We have a pedestrian crossing sign in my small town, that is located near a small skater park.
So of course, the plain boring round head of the stick man has been replaced with a Spitfire flaming head sticker (apparently a skater emblem of a sorts).
I laugh out loud every time I pass it – even made it my facebook profile pic.
Hope no one removes it. Sometimes vandalism is necessary 🙂

Apparently life is pretty boring in the Poconos.

October 24, 2008 at 12:43 pmLOVE that! Where I live, there are so many deer that a sign isn’t necessary. You just expect to see one at any given moment. It’s tough on newcomers.

October 24, 2008 at 12:46 pmThis makes me smile. Hmm, maybe I need to get a red reflector for one of the deer signs on my road to work.

October 24, 2008 at 2:51 pmAwesome! *lol* I wonder if that would work for all the moose warning signs around here? No?
And no, I don’t live in Alaska…rather, Maine.
