October 28, 2008 at 9:54 amI grew up in a very old house, and my parents live in one now, so I know how it is. Old buildings are great to look at and visit, but not to have to maintain. Sad though, when they get torn down.

October 28, 2008 at 1:22 pmToo many old farmhouses have been torn down this year in my corner of the world simply because the property they occupied became valuable. Nothing wrong with them other than being in the way of expanding subdivisions and road widening projects. First came their owners’ junk piled at the end of the driveway, then boards over their doors and windows, and lastly the wrecking ball. Very sad.

October 28, 2008 at 7:55 pmThey recently knocked down my charming little elementary school to put in a huge cookie-cutter high school.
It’s like all those plastic playgrounds that look exactly the same to me. I mean, yeah, the old wooden ones probably had splinters the size of stakes just waiting for your heart, but… still.
