Patriotism. Bossy is feeling it these days, and here’s why: Americans really became engaged with this last election. It was difficult to find anyone who wasn’t impassioned on one side or the other.
The morning of the elections, Bossy decided to fly her flag for everyone who cared enough to get out there and make their mark; for the newly registered, and the old political stalwarts.
Bossy truly believes that Barack O’Boyfriend will work to bring both sides together, and she was particularly taken with the message he had for the Republicans whose support he hasn’t yet captured, which Bossy will now twist to suit her own needs:
Bossy may not have won your vote, but she hears your voices, she needs your help, and she will be your Blogger too.
Consider flying your flag to symbolize the new beginning, optimism, and the unification of America. Bossy’s friend Martha bought her flag the other day at Target, and it was on the sale rack!
Of course, if everyone decides to fly their flag, Target will mark those flags back up and situate them on their prime end caps.

November 6, 2008 at 9:53 amYesterday was nice wasn’t it? I felt a pride and happiness for our country that I haven’t felt in a very long time. It was also nice to know that-unlike 2004- the rest of the world wasn’t looking at us saying, What In The Hell Is Wrong With You People??!!?

November 6, 2008 at 11:22 amOkay mindreading sista o’ mine…
I put my flag up on election day and have been contemplating how long to leave it up. I took my lawn sign in today, mainly because I heavily criticized (that is to say, gave the finger to) all the Bush gloaters over the last eight years who kept up their signs and bumper stickers. We must be humble. In public.

November 6, 2008 at 11:37 amMy colors have been stowed away since, well, since I don’t know when. I just wasn’t feelin’ the love. But now? Now I’m about to bust wide open with patriotism. Time to fly those colors again.
Get out your Old Glory and show your pride, people!

It’s flyin’ over at http://buenosburritos.blogspot.com today.

(…and please tell me those aren’t Christmas lights I see! Unless they’re from last year. Then I won’t feel too inadequate.)

November 6, 2008 at 1:54 pmThis is the first time in my life that I have ever felt enough pride in my country to fly the flag. And I’m as old as Lincoln.
I went down to the flag store right across from the Betsy Ross house to purchase it. That somehow felt way better than going the Target route.

November 6, 2008 at 3:49 pmOur voting place is just a few streets over from our house, in one of the oldest neighborhoods in our city. We drive down our alley, onto a bigger street, and then make a right hand turn to go down the street to the school where we vote. And on that street sits a tiny house with the BIGGEST flag you’ve ever seen flying from it,and in the front yard, sits a middle aged man in a lawn chair who waves at EVERY SINGLE CAR passing his house, with the biggest smile on his face that you’ve ever seen. I know it sounds silly and sentimental, but passing that guy and waving back at him, makes me well up like nobody’s business. And it is to me, what America is all about. Showing pride in our country and the freedoms it affords us. And even though I’m probably your ONLY reader who did not vote for your boyfriend, I am totally HAPPY and SUPPORTIVE of him and proud of our country. He’s going to be a great leader, I just know it.
(And Bossy will always be my favorite blogger, that is true as well)!

November 6, 2008 at 8:07 pmI certainly don’t mean to offend and I’m sorry, but I find it sad and perplexing that the flag is not flown ALWAYS, or at least frequently throughout the year. The stars and stripes are not exclusive to show your support for a certain president. The flag shows your patriotism to AMERICA AND ITS PEOPLE……. AND FREEDOM AND LIBERTY.

November 6, 2008 at 8:57 pmYou do know this is the first flag Bossy’s friend has flown!
I am so proud too.
Unfortunately, many Americans have not historically felt the sense of “Freedom and Liberty” that our flag and country was created to represent.
As my Aussie friend says “America has finally grown up!”

November 6, 2008 at 11:56 pmMy flag has been up at every house I’ve ever lived at, hummm for at least the last 25 years anyway….
I love my country despite who’s at the helm.

November 7, 2008 at 7:14 pmI have a wee little paper-on-a-stick American flag… I can pop it into the morning tea pikelets I’m making, if you like?
Nice to see all this patriotism… not to put a damper on things, I AM looking forward to your boyfriend fixing that horrendous health system America has! I have a friend undergoing cancer treatment and so far, it scares the beejeezus out of me. (Mr Obama, if you are reading this – and I am SURE you are – please fix this up before your fix the rest of the world? OK? Ta).
