These days Bossy tries really hard not to drive anywhere, as indicated by the above photo, which is Bossy’s thrilling view of her own driveway.
Bossy is trying not to drive anywhere because she obviously wants to save on gas, but also because if she doesn’t go anywhere she can’t buy anything. It’s funny how you can save money when you stay away from banks and stores.
Speaking of cars and bumpy transitions when you make a sudden left leaving your readers with whiplash, Uniroyal Tires became interested in Bossy’s Poverty Party, because they want us debt types to know about their latest online campaign, More Mileage For Your Money.
Through a series of posted videos with their host, Kimberly Danger, Uniroyal provides money-saving advice on things like car maintenance and road trip planning–as well as a range of household topics like coupons, cooking, and holiday preparation.
To share their love with one lucky Bossy’s reader, Uniroyal would like to give away an Emergency Car Kit, complete with jumper cables, flashlight, traffic cone, emergency poncho, safety vest, blanket, first aid kit, gloves, insulating tape, and twist-ties, because there can never be enough twist-ties.
Also included in the Emergency Car Kit is a copy of Kimberly Danger’s latest book, 1000 Baby Bargains–which Bossy assumes you can read while you wait for AAA.
To be considered for the giveaway, just leave a comment below, one per person please, and Bossy will utilize her friend the Random Number Generator to announce the winner after the weekend.
This kit would also make a great holiday gift for a beloved driver near you. Bossy is jealous she isn’t getting one, which is her shiny new disclaimer.
I’d love to win this prize! As it happens, I’ve just this moment finished organizing my car insurance – if I had this in my car I’d be very well-prepared for an emergency.
Low number low number pick a low number – please!
You could probably read that book three times before AAA would arrive.
My wonderful grandmother who lived through the Great Depression in a small house with dirt floors (Note: DIRT floors, not DIRTY floors like those in my house) still saves every twist tie she meets.
Oh I could use one of those! For the first time in my life I have to use my car to commute. What a bummer!
One can never have enough twist ties or duct tape.
Oh that would be awesome. Thanks Bossy
What a nifty prize. I’m sure I know lots of folks who could use that.
Count me in! I’d love to win it!
Whoever wins this will never need it. That’s the funny part. If you are prepared then it won’t happen to you! If I don’t win I will break down next week and be cussing that I don’t have this stuff!
I’ll give the baby book away but would love the rest!
Pick me! Also, does one of those packages say “Justin Case” on it? I surely hope so.
I accidentally left me car safety kit in my car… when we junked it. So clearly, I deserve this, no?
I was just thinking I need to get one of these especially after our son hit a deer with our best car – in the shop now. Thankfully not totalled and thankfully totally covered by insurance.
And there can also never be enough safety vests at least not where I live.
That traffic cone looks like it’s for matchbox car traffic.
Crabby loves Bossy.
I drive a 1984 Volkswagen GTI. I could use an emergency kit!!!
Boy could I use this. Going on two very long car trips by myself (well, except for those 4 kids I’ll be driving) and my van’s battery is known to die on occasion since certain children don’t close the door after exiting and the car is not smart enough to just automatically turn off the lights already. I especially like how the items are nicely put away in a convenient bag instead of the jumper cables just shoved under a seat along with the flashlight (and twist ties?). If I don’t win (and I’m already okay with the fact that I won’t b/c I never win anything) I guess I’ll just have to buy my own neat bag to stow all this stuff.
My husband, aka “Safety Boy” will be all over this!
vuboq hasn’t owned a car since 1995 … which means *this* will be the prize vuboq wins (if vuboq ever wins a prize).
*smooches*
Does it come with a free set of tires?
Ya can’t be too prepared. I’m in! Thanks.
We could easily add this to the hodgepodge of stuff in our trunk. Which includes notebooks, clothes too small for my kid, trash bags, reusable grocery bags, and trash.
It would be a reason to clean out the trunk so the kit would have it’s very own display case.
I NEED that kit. My Poverty Party included dropping AAA because, can you say $$$$?
Oh, my grandpa would love this.
Going out of town tomorrow on a possibly snowy day. Count me in! And pretend you don’t notice I only started commenting when I realized you give stuff away sometimes.
If I win, I’ll give the book to my daughter, who is expecting her first child!
If I win, at least I’ll be prepared for one emergency. Now, I’d better get started preparing for any of the other emergencies that seem to find me.
Free?
Gift?
That fits my current financial situation perfectly!
Yankee would love to pack this into the very tiny, gas sipping used car he just bought. He loves to brag how long he can make a tank of gas last.
you know, just this morning i was thinking about how my life is not complete, because i have a wonderful husband and an adorable daughter and a job, but I DO NOT HAVE MY OWN JUMPER CABLES. who lives like that, i ask you? i hope i win this prize to rectify that situation. thanks BOSSY!
Oh, can you pick #32, please?
This would be perfect as a free gift for my husband. He’ll make me keep it in my car though since he was an Eagle Scout and is always prepared for an emergency.
That would be nice for my husband, he is totally never prepared for issues with cars.
Hopefully 34 is my lucky number.
Do I get to play? It’s on the up and up, but maybe politically incorrect?
I so need anything emergency.
And is someone going to tell us what the twist-ties are FOR? Because I have a hard time imagining an emergency in which I would not be eating every single chip in the bag, and would therefore have a need to tie the bag shut.
My emergency car supplies consist of: collapsible dog bowl, bottled water for the dogs, snacks for dogs. I would love to have jumper cables and nifty zip ties. Please pick me!
Am I the only one thinking this but those gloves are for some HUGE hands!
My husband needs one of these for his car! Pick me, pick me, pick me!
Her name is really Kimberly DANGER? How odd. I would love to win, simply to see what’s in the Justin Case package.
I would love to get this beauty of a gift.
I’m a single woman who is lacking with the AAA membership, at the moment. I need all the help I can get.
Thanks Bossy and the Random Number Generator, you ROCK!
SUCH a practical gift. Woo hoo!
I bought jumper cables for all my kids to carry in their cars, two years ago for Christmas. Hsbd already had a set in his truck. Guess who’s car quit at a red light in the middle of three through lanes and two turn lanes, two days after Christmas. Guess who still doesn’t have her own jumper cables. Please pick me!
I’d love to win this for my son. He just bought his first car. He’s already finding out how expensive it can be, what with his tire falling off the other day! Thank God no one was hurt. Seems someone must have tried to steal the nice rims and had loosened all the lug nuts on that one tire.
Even people watching their pennies need to be safe and this is a smart investment purchase. I may even get one for myself as a Christmas gift if I dont win one.
The way my car has been sounding, this would be a most welcome addition. Anything to put off buying a new car…
Oh, that is rad. I am a practical gift giver
Today’s poverty post is “food budget schmood budget part II” Where I talk about U.F.O.’s http://jlogged.com/
I doublt I would know what to do w/ this if I drove around w/ it in my car but at least I could say I was “prepared”.
Big trip coming up. . . . come on random number generator!!
Thanks Bossy!
I’m game!!
I have a cheaper unreliable version of this, but I can’t find it. I suppose I should have put it in my car.
No matter, it didn’t have duct tape or twisty ties. I’m ready to move on up.
Emergency Poncho? I’m in. You just never know when you’re going to have a poncho crisis.
We have a driveway full of unreliable cars. This would be awesome.
oh i hope i win because i am about to buy my very own car for the very first time. as in, nobody else gonna own it but me!
Terrific prize! Count me in!!
Cool! I’ve always wanted one of those but I’m just not practical enough to buy it for myself.
Great Christmas Present idea, and way to save money on the xmas budget if I win!
Thanks for the contest and your generousity.
This would certainly help in an emergency. And it’s not something I would go out and buy.
my car broke down 2 weeks ago this would have been so helpful!
cool prize, just intime for bad weather
My brother needs this for his new to him car!
This looks very handy, thanks! I live in Minnesota so I’ll need to add a blanket and boots. It’s already freezing up here!!!
I would love to win this! I’m trying not to drive as much, too – but when I do, it would be nice to have this kit to be safe on the road…
Always pays to be safe with 3 kids in the car!
I was just thinking that I needed something like this.
Would love to have this in the family car, feel much safer on long road trips
Not so new car = need for supplies! Thanks.
This would be great for my 17 year old son who I KNOW would wear the poncho in case of an emergency.
fingers crossed
Me, please!!
I would love to win this…someone stole our jumper cables out of our unlocked garage…sigh.
BOSSY! This kit might really come in handy as I drive from Washington State to Delaware/New Jersey/ Pennsylvania to explore my genealogical finds, including the cape house in Jersey! Thanks!! (That is, if I could ever afford a wonderful road trip like that!) Still! Handy!
Handy indeed, I commute to work over dark and stormy roads in the NW. I hope I am the lucky one today!!
thanks Bossy!
i made room in my trunk – i am ready to win.
This would be perfect for the winter camping trips!
Me me me! I asked for one of these for Christmas this year. You could save my husband the trouble of actually having to shop for me.
Oh..yes please! Free stuff…YAY!
I’m a big fan of stuff like this. Especially since it comes in its own case and will be all together if you need it!!
AAA is a great saver actually. You can get 4 free tows a year. The cost of the membership is significantly less than the cost of a single tow. Also they many stores and businesses offer a AAA discount!!
I am the only person in the world without a cell phone so I think I should win this emergency kit.
Consider this the elegy for the fine silver automobile sitting neglected behind the rainy windshield….
Wow…If I broke down in the rain that poncho would surely come in handy. It may keep my curly hair from looking like a brillo pad!
We travel all the time!
The old honda is getting up there…the kit could be very handy
Can I trade the toothbrush for this instead? Just kidding!
I want them both. Ha.
I would look so hot with that little orange and black carry case!
Seems like a very handy thing to have. Might give it to my grandma….
Great gift!
I really need a new Traffic Cone. Sign me up Bossy!
Oh, I hope I win. I would give it to my husband.
Gloves, jumper cables and a random number generator? All of my favorite things in one place… sign me up!
Wow, wow, wow! Gas is very reasonable here in California. So we are driving a bit more.
twist ties!
Twist ties? I can’t win then. I have this thing against twist ties. Evil, I tells ya, evil.
This would make the best Christmas gift for ME! Yes, I would love to win it. Thanks Bossy and Uniroyal.
This would finally motivate me to get the IKEA pillow out of my trunk to make room for the kit.
my dad always taught me to be prepared for an emergency, especially in a car. He was a fire fighter.
This would be great for the car. I don’t think the one I used to have ever made it into the new car, several years ago.
Thanks Bossy
pick me please, oh RNG!
Oh, how I could have used this about two weeks ago when my battery died in the parking lot at KFC…it was a bad day. Please save me from that horror again!
Oh man, wish I’d had this last year when I got in a wreck on Christmas. Woulda made that day SLIGHTLY less hell-ish.
Not quite like winning a Wii ( http://weightlossunexpected.com/?p=19 ), but much more useful in an emergency! Thanks, BOSSY
I’m totally addicted to Bossy; it’s kind of sad. Winning something would be good, though!
yes please, pick me.
Hey, Bossy!
This would be a great gift for my newly licensed 16 year old! She will need to learn how to use the jumper cables! …but we will skip the baby danger book for now…!
I love a kit–a kit for anything is fine by me. Bossy, you brighten my day with each click of my mouse around your site!
Safety first.
I’ve been meaning (and meaning and meaning and meaning and what was I doing again?) to put together an Emergency car kit. But it’d be better if I won one!
Oooh! I drive a 20-year-old car, and I have a baby on the way. I could definitely use both the emergency car kit and the baby bargain book. Thank you for the giveaway and all of the great posts!
I’m always wondering if my tires are properly inflated, if I’me using the right type of gas, what that burning smell is…
Wow! This would be kinda nifty in Michigan.
yes, please bossy!
Do they know how to fix a bumper and a broken sunroof cheapy???!!! The clear duct tape that has been holding both for a year just doesn’t look as good.!!
Thanks for the giveaway, Bossy! Considering the ice storm of the century we endured last December, we may need this when we’re carpooling further south as the temperatures drop! Have a great weekend, Bossy!
I sure like FREE stuff!!
What’s that little compact makred PVC? I hope this comes with instructions. It would probably be a swell idea for me to have an emergency kit before we head out for our great winter vacation in January!
I have no emergency kit, which is a shame, because those twist ties would have come in really handy today when my three year-old ran away in Target. I could have used those flexible little guys to attach said child to the cart by his fingers and toes. Handy, and fun!
Me! Me!! Me!!!
I love the little tiny orange cone!!!
i wasn’t gonna (because i don’t have a car), but then i remembered i have one person who i never know what to get and she just got a new(ish) car! so yes, please make my financial holiday load a little lighter this year!
thanks!
What a great kit! Now all I need is a car. And some gas. And some driving lessons.
My husband would be thrilled if I had this. He worries for my safety when I’m behind the wheel.
Sounds like a responsible thing to have in the car. It would go well with my pack of gum.
ooo please, please!
I would worry less about my son if this were in his trunk.
you can never be too prepared!
I’m in. And the way my car is going, I might need it.
Me, please.
I think I’d be quite the sight if I brought this on the subway with me.
Oh, I sure could use this!
What a fantastic prize! I’d love to win!
I love all things free!!!!
I want it!
I like tires and things to take care of emergencies.
Part of my personal poverty party is staying in my old car when I really really WANT a new one.
I especially like the gloves in this kit because, really, have you ever done anything involving your car that didn’t leave your hands filthy?
My husband could use this since he drives from South Jersey to Wayne, PA every day in an 8-year-old Saturn that burns oil, sometimes runs hot, and has 135K miles on it (but it still gets 35+ mpg).
Sign me up!
Since I caught a bug earlier this week and was dragging more than usual, I could totally use a jump start. Therefore, I need those cables.
Oh yeah, and I have to commute 60 miles each way to work. It would be a crying shame if I had an emergency but no emergency kit.
As a new teen driver, I think this would come in handy
I was wondering if the kit comes with a handy dandy hunky guy to fix my… whatever vehicular thingamy breaks down? Cuz that’d be sweeeeet!
It would be a Xmas present for my Dad to know that I had one of these in the car… He would prefer it to include a blanket and water, in case I’m lost in a ditch in freezing weather and no longer have use of a cell phone or my legs. But, this will do!
I so need jumper cables, and how cute that there is a tote bag for it all!
143 is my lucky number. And it goes along with beihg $143K in debt! I feel lucky.
hmmm, if I get that though, would it mean that my car would start breaking down?
*crosses fingers*! thanks!
ohh pick me! i just bought a new car and could totally use that!
Love this prize. Pick me oh Random Number Generator.
that would be totally awesome
Jumper cables in the car? Now that’d be a first!
I like it! Pick me, pick me!
Who knew twist ties were an emergency necessity? I guess I do now!
My husband gave me his and he needs one for his truck. Pick high!
Someday I’ll win…..someday…..
pick me! pick me!
Two weeks ago I finished work around midnight, walked out to my car, and made the disturbing discovery of a totally dead battery. Real friend are those with a) jumper cables and b) a willingness to leave their warm bed to use them.
Awesome giveaway!
Neat-o!
YEs Yes YES!! I always carry jumper cables, and have a mish mash first aid kit in a grocery bag. How nice!!
My latest Poverty Party post: Cheap haircut = cute! http://www.bitterkat.com/bk/2008/11/38-for-a-haircut.php
If I stick with this I’ll save more than $125 a year. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to color gray for cheap.
I would love some new jumper cables. Pick me!!
Mama Bear is perplexed over the use of twist ties in emergency situations. Perhaps to hold the back bumper on when it falls off?
I don’t have a car, but will as soon as I win this emergency kit!
Cool prize, bossy! I usually just turn up the radio until the car stops rolling. But that’s just me…
I have jumper cables, but my kid doesn’t. And his car’s much more likely to need them. If I win, I promise to give it to him.
Awesome prize; will make my car safer for the baby that’s coming in 3 weeks!
Would love this for my teenage daughter who now drives!
It’s always good to be prepared.
Is this considered a comment?
My daughter’s taking her road test in 3 weeks. This would make a great gift. Fingers crossed.
I’m a terrible driver, and I call my mom and scream into the phone about how the car won’t start or how I’ve driven into a guardrail, or how I’ve hit some ice and spun across traffic and into a ditch and am now stuck and pleasecomehelpmethere’samanwalkingthisway. Basically, I need to know when Bossy’s going to be giving away a chauffeur or a car that just drives itself?
I definitely need one of these!
Do you really read all the comments? Cuz’ you have quite a lot.
Would love this!
My job forces me to drive a lot of rental cars. So I think I shall gift this to me.
Crossing fingers, pick me, pick me….oh random number thingie!
Also, here is my latest savings site, http://gasbuddy.com/, GasBuddy.com that will allow you to find the lowest priced gas in your area.
Would love to have this in my trunk!
We have had more “waiting for roadside assistance” adventures than I’d care to mention, so this would be super!
If I won this I’d feel just like a boy scout – prepared!!!
Thanks for the chance to win! I would probably give this to one of my cousins to keep them safe driving back and forth from college.
There’s a good chance my daughter will be moving to Minnesota for a new job (fingers crossed!) … you know, Minnesota – Where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and the winter weather makes for really crappy driving conditions! Daughter’s mother would be so very happy if she were to win this for daughter.
I’d love one of these! Thanks Bossy.
I am one of those people that always thinks they should have an emergency kit, but doesn’t.
Oh, I need one of these for my mini-van.
Your poverty party posts have been great. Isn’t that amazing how when you don’t drive anywhere you can save money. It gets so cold here that we spend hardly no money from January to March because I hate leaving the house.
I have my fingers crossed…I really need one of those!
ZOMG, I love entering these contests.
Never ever do I win random things. But again: it should be me BECAUSE my emergency kit was stolen out of my car in Brooklyn in the late 1990s and I have been unprepared ever since. And I ask you, what kind of cold-hearted meany steals an emergency kit? Also I commute 3 hours round trip. Come on, random-ater, it’s my turn!
My first poverty post!
