These days Bossy tries really hard not to drive anywhere, as indicated by the above photo, which is Bossy’s thrilling view of her own driveway.
Bossy is trying not to drive anywhere because she obviously wants to save on gas, but also because if she doesn’t go anywhere she can’t buy anything. It’s funny how you can save money when you stay away from banks and stores.
Speaking of cars and bumpy transitions when you make a sudden left leaving your readers with whiplash, Uniroyal Tires became interested in Bossy’s Poverty Party, because they want us debt types to know about their latest online campaign, More Mileage For Your Money.
Through a series of posted videos with their host, Kimberly Danger, Uniroyal provides money-saving advice on things like car maintenance and road trip planning–as well as a range of household topics like coupons, cooking, and holiday preparation.
To share their love with one lucky Bossy’s reader, Uniroyal would like to give away an Emergency Car Kit, complete with jumper cables, flashlight, traffic cone, emergency poncho, safety vest, blanket, first aid kit, gloves, insulating tape, and twist-ties, because there can never be enough twist-ties.
Also included in the Emergency Car Kit is a copy of Kimberly Danger’s latest book, 1000 Baby Bargains–which Bossy assumes you can read while you wait for AAA.
To be considered for the giveaway, just leave a comment below, one per person please, and Bossy will utilize her friend the Random Number Generator to announce the winner after the weekend.
This kit would also make a great holiday gift for a beloved driver near you. Bossy is jealous she isn’t getting one, which is her shiny new disclaimer.

November 14, 2008 at 9:30 amI’d love to win this prize! As it happens, I’ve just this moment finished organizing my car insurance – if I had this in my car I’d be very well-prepared for an emergency.

November 14, 2008 at 9:41 amOh I could use one of those! For the first time in my life I have to use my car to commute. What a bummer!

November 14, 2008 at 9:55 amWhoever wins this will never need it. That’s the funny part. If you are prepared then it won’t happen to you! If I don’t win I will break down next week and be cussing that I don’t have this stuff!

November 14, 2008 at 10:02 amI was just thinking I need to get one of these especially after our son hit a deer with our best car – in the shop now. Thankfully not totalled and thankfully totally covered by insurance.

November 14, 2008 at 10:08 amI drive a 1984 Volkswagen GTI. I could use an emergency kit!!!
Kristi says
November 14, 2008 at 10:09 amBoy could I use this. Going on two very long car trips by myself (well, except for those 4 kids I’ll be driving) and my van’s battery is known to die on occasion since certain children don’t close the door after exiting and the car is not smart enough to just automatically turn off the lights already. I especially like how the items are nicely put away in a convenient bag instead of the jumper cables just shoved under a seat along with the flashlight (and twist ties?). If I don’t win (and I’m already okay with the fact that I won’t b/c I never win anything) I guess I’ll just have to buy my own neat bag to stow all this stuff.
Kris says
November 14, 2008 at 10:09 amMy husband, aka “Safety Boy” will be all over this!

November 14, 2008 at 10:12 amWe could easily add this to the hodgepodge of stuff in our trunk. Which includes notebooks, clothes too small for my kid, trash bags, reusable grocery bags, and trash.
It would be a reason to clean out the trunk so the kit would have it’s very own display case.

Guess who’s car quit at a red light in the middle of three through lanes and two turn lanes, two days after Christmas. Guess who still doesn’t have her own jumper cables. Please pick me!
JJJ says
November 14, 2008 at 11:07 amI’d love to win this for my son. He just bought his first car. He’s already finding out how expensive it can be, what with his tire falling off the other day! November 15, 2008 at 2:25 pmMy latest Poverty Party post: Cheap haircut = cute! http://www.bitterkat.com/bk/2008/11/38-for-a-haircut.php
If I stick with this I’ll save more than $125 a year. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to color gray for cheap.

Mama Bear says
November 15, 2008 at 4:02 pmMama Bear is perplexed over the use of twist ties in emergency situations. Perhaps to hold the back bumper on when it falls off?

November 15, 2008 at 4:50 pmCool prize, bossy! I usually just turn up the radio until the car stops rolling. But that’s just me…

November 15, 2008 at 5:55 pmI have jumper cables, but my kid doesn’t. And his car’s much more likely to need them. If I win, I promise to give it to him.

November 15, 2008 at 10:21 pmI’m a terrible driver, and I call my mom and scream into the phone about how the car won’t start or how I’ve driven into a guardrail, or how I’ve hit some ice and spun across traffic and into a ditch and am now stuck and pleasecomehelpmethere’samanwalkingthisway. Basically, I need to know when Bossy’s going to be giving away a chauffeur or a car that just drives itself?

November 16, 2008 at 5:06 pmThere’s a good chance my daughter will be moving to Minnesota for a new job (fingers crossed!) … you know, Minnesota – Where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and the winter weather makes for really crappy driving conditions! Daughter’s mother would be so very happy if she were to win this for daughter. 🙂

November 16, 2008 at 8:26 pmYour poverty party posts have been great. Isn’t that amazing how when you don’t drive anywhere you can save money. It gets so cold here that we spend hardly no money from January to March because I hate leaving the house.

November 17, 2008 at 12:48 amNever ever do I win random things. But again: it should be me BECAUSE my emergency kit was stolen out of my car in Brooklyn in the late 1990s and I have been unprepared ever since. And I ask you, what kind of cold-hearted meany steals an emergency kit? Also I commute 3 hours round trip. Come on, random-ater, it’s my turn!
