Lemons. Bossy isn’t even kidding–the older she gets the more she infuses lemons into her day.
She drops wedges of lemon into her water, she squeezes nearly a whole lemon into her homemade salad dressing each night, and whenever possible she grates lemon rind into sauces and stews, across expanses of chicken and fish and even meat.
These lemons came from a tree belonging to one very talented web designer.
Could Bossy share that homemade salad dressing recipe?
I’d like to read it while I’m thinking about making a salad. Where “thinking” equals “No way am I making my own salad, because I hate eating my own salads, but if you made the exact same salad with the exact same ingredients in my house I’d love it.”
Maybe Bossy’s dressing would inspire me to eat more self-made salads.
I put lemons on almost everything too. I plan to stuff a few in my turkey this year.
I just adore Lemons. Lemon anything. I especially love lemon candles. I love when my hands smell of lemons.
I could bathe in lemons.
Best use of limons? Cerveza! M I RITE?
‘Member when Martha Stewart was released from prison and a bunch of reporters ambushed her in her garden while she was picking lemons from her trees and they asked her, “What did you miss while you were in prison?” And Martha said, “Lemons! (pause) Oh, and my family.” All about the good THINGS, that Martha.
LEMON LOVE here, too!
I’m growing a lemon tree but she is still a baby and I probably won’t get any lemons for a few years.
Dear Bossy and Bossy’s Readers,
I am an avid hater of lemons and all things lemon. And orange, lime, and grapefruit, too. If it’s citrus, I’ll pass.
But you all rock on in your lemon-ness.
And I’ll be sure to stand up wind when you crack one open.
Beautiful photo, with tight focus and blue, blue sky behind.
These photos are part of what I love best about Bossy’s blog. That and the creatively ridiculous captioned photoshopped photos. And the silliness. And the wide-ranging scope of topics. And the readers’ comments. But photos of lemons — definitely those too.
Tuli, why do you all things citrus? Did they attack you as a child?
I’m with you (and Martha) on the lemons!!! That and garlic…and olive oil….
My 7 year old nephew LOVES lemons and limes! Meanwhile I love vodka tonic with lots of lime (and/or lemon)… you can imagine the auntie-nephew battles over citrus fruit come cocktail hour. Seriously. I can’t wait until he’s old enough to understand the pickle he puts me in! 🙂
Love lemons, too! Thank you for pointing out that they were from a friend’s tree. Do you know what a bowl that size of lemons costs?!! I always get tickled when on HGTV or even on Oprah, they show an inexpensive way to decorate a table. Maybe just a wide bowl of 50 pomegranetes. Oh sure, that costs maybe $150?!!!!
Lemons, I can’t live without them. They are my white bread
I came back to ditto Chesapeake Bay Woman. Bossy, would you please share the salad dressing recipe?
I have a rather loose dressing recipe I would be willing to share in return.
I became suspicious of lemons after “60 Minutes” had a researcher explain her study about lemons slices that get dropped in your water at restaurants. Evidently, the lemons are not washed, nor are the hands that slice them and drop them in your H2O. She found all sorts of bacteria and “stuff” on those lemon skins and in thus in your water. Eeeeek!
When dining out, I now say, “no lemon in my water please.”
I just about swooned when Diet Pepsi recently brought back the lemon flavored kind. Yummmmm
Yup. Bush lemons are the best kind. (And I do mean that in a citrus sense).
My Dad fully believes in the restorative powers of the Grapefruit. Does Bossy do grapefruit with equal zeal?
🙂
