Bossy and her husband are celebrating the fact that they just paid off their first credit card, where celebrating equals Gosh this lemon water is unsatisfying!
Only $67,685.06 to go! Right about now Bossy realizes she can not do this sober.
Congratulations Bossy and her husband! This would almost – ALMOST – demand a bottle of champagne to celebrate, but I know that Bossy is too frugal and too *healthy* what with the fasting and all, to partake. Still – virtual champagne wishes and caviar dreams to you both!
That is one of the most beautiful things in the universe, isn’t it?
I’m trying to help my boyfriend get a handle on his finances. It’s really hard. He’s afraid of looking at the balances so he pretends they don’t exist. But we’re getting there, one step at a time.
I’m doing a cleanse in stages. So, you know, to stretch it out into a sslllooooowwwww, painful death. No gluten this week. Add no sugar next week. Add no dairy the following. Then, add no caffeine leading up to lots and lots of alcohol New Year’s Eve. My brain cells have already shriveled up to powder and if I shake my head, I feel like a snow globe …
That is one awesome feeling, isn’t it Bossy? Been debt-free ONCE in my adult life, and it was aaaahhhhhh, the BEST. Will get there again, I hope…such a hard time to do so, when everything is tanking…you are brave and smart. Thanks for sharing what you’re doing.
Am I the only one that finds this BOSSY victory bittersweet? While I applaud the discipline and success of BOSSY and her fam for getting this first credit card paid off, I am reminded that I am not close to having my first one paid off. In fact, I am $2,193.17 from having the first one paid off. But, because I am not a sore sport, I am going to have a bottle of “Three Buck Chuck” to celebrate this victory (and to drown my own helpless feeling.)
CONGRATULATIONS! I just managed to pay off my first debt on my list as well. Tomorrow (when you are off the fast, yay!) it is time to go get some two buck chuck and celebrate! (because nothing else says poor like Charles Shaw Wine)
Congratulations! Feels great, doesn’t it?! I was this close to paying off a credit card before our wedding and then put a bunch of wedding stuff on it. Sucky. We are back on the road to “recovery” now though, all cards are cut up!
I have also been wondering what Bossy thinks of paying bills online? I like to write checks so I feel like I have more control over things, but is setting up online bill paying smarter?

December 12, 2008 at 12:46 pmBossy, I just set up my own debt watch file, and after I saw the total I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Just a little.
But I am excited to watch my number drop too! I look forward to celebrating the first paid off balance.
Question: Are you saving at the same time? Or have you foregone saving to pay off the debt? I don’t know what to do.
