My 10-y.o. *still* has Mama radar, and if I’m up, he’s up. I surrendered a long time ago, and just remember to soak up his company and funny ways, ’cause it won’t be long ’til he’s outta here. I miss alone time, though, I truly do.
Ah, I love that early morning peace and quiet. Confession, some times I get annoyed when people wake earlier than the norm and “join” me in my alone time….
I crave alone time more than I crave fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, and that’s saying something because I have to drive an hour just to get some of those. I nearly had a stroke today because my alone time was so interrupted; I’m pretty sure my head spun around twice and I became more hideous with each revolution.
I need to surrender and accept that alone time doesn’t exist unless everyone else is asleep, which explains why Bossy doesn’t get much sleep.
Do you turn on those special lights around the window for your alone time or do they just burn all the time. I love my alone time (4:30 or 5:00am to 6:30 – then it’s over till tomorrow.)
I love the idea of this time of day, though I’ve seldom seen it. I saw the sunrise while on vacation once in a house that faced east and realized with a panic that I had left the bedroom door open. Shudder. Your house is beautiful, though.
There is nothing like those peaceful mornings.
my favorite is the dark, quiet, early morning dorm.
of course, at CU, 9:00 is generally early enough to catch it, not 5:30 ….
I hear ya. It’s 5:22 and I’ve been up since 4:45. Aside from the two cats tearing through the house, all is quiet. I love this time of day.
Damn Bossy. I thought this was a magazine spread. Your home looks beautiful. Might be enough to entice me to get up early too – almost.

That’s lovely. But where’s all your junk? And your spouse’s junk? And your kids’ junk?
BTW, got Our John Cusack on my blog today.
Just sayin’.
Hey, Great Getzby — would “CU” be CU-Boulder?? My alma-mater! 🙂
Bossy, your giant dining room light is AWESOME!
Word, Bossy.
Love this picture! Such a peaceful atmosphere…
Yup. Me too.
i do exactly the same thing. except at night.
PADS??? You’ve been reading books again, bossy.
I love the early mornings. I get up to run. I get to see the sunrise that a lot of people miss.

omg, i’m so with you!
Beautiful warm peaceful glow.
I”m also imagining all those folks around that table plus the annex table, laughing and drinking wine and enjoying each other.
This room is beautiful in both modes.
And I thought Bossy was up so early to do her Richard Simmons tape!
I’ve been up that early a few times, but never of my own volition…I stay up late to get my quiet house alone time!
No Jen–I’m betting CU is Columbia and the Great Getzby is Son of Bossy. Because? Clever Boy!
You almost make we want to get up early. Almost. But not really.
Bossy’s house is beautiful.
Loving the all-year-round Xmas lights. Very relaxing.

Where’dya get the light over the table? I LOVE it and want it over my table 🙂
I totally thought you were about to say swag lamps.

Yeesh, what time are you early risers going to bed?!
Amen.

Is that what 5:30 looks like? Hunh. I like sleep. (After 17 yrs of marriage, that’s alone time 🙂 )
