Raw cashews. Usually purchased by the 1-pound bag at Trader Joe’s.
Christ on the cross, Bossy eats handfuls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with some snacks thrown in for good measure. In fact, Bossy admits the only reason she jogs a few times a week is to try to balance the sheer volume of raw cashews consumed.

I have ordered from them many times, if you call them they will tell you everything you never wanted to know about nuts. Raw nuts freeze very well and last almost forever when frozen, roasted nuts go rancid, something about the oils changing when roasted.

March 11, 2009 at 9:31 amI just looked on my can of cashews, because surely the nutrition info on yours is a misprint. My can confirms your bag, though, and furthermore contains the valuable “allergy information” that the cashews “CONTAIN CASHEWS.”
I’d be better off eating these cashews for breakfast, since what I AM eating is a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and roasted peanuts.

March 11, 2009 at 12:58 pmI tried raw but I have to go with roasted. Unsalted of course. I keep a bag by the desk at work at all times.
Considering the cost, shouldn’t this have a double entry in the Poverty Party?

March 11, 2009 at 8:56 pmIf that was a picture of pork rinds, I’d agree.
But raw cashews are natural and probably reasonably (if not totally) unprocessed. It’s like avocados. 400 million grams of fat straight off the avodaco bush/tree/vine/thing that produces avocados. But Mother Nature made it, so all bets are off.
BTW – Mother Nature did not put labels on her stuff because she doesn’t have to.
