On Friday, Bossy and her friend Martha saw Marianne Faithfull perform at a free afternoon concert. She was good, but her backup band was fantastic — except they were never announced, and although they are probably heavy hitters, Bossy didn’t recognize them. Who are these mystery players?
At first glance I thought Marianne was Martha Stewart, albeit a very tired looking one. Oops!
Who are they REALLY? Can’t help you there.
Who do they LOOK like? Why, that’s Martha Stewart singing, John Malkovich (incognito) on guitar, and Peter Tork on bass.
Peter Tork and Martha Stewart? Absolutely. But actually, the guitar player? Bossy is thinking he looks more like Rahm Emanuel.
Al Franken and my high school science teacher.
That guitarist is CUTE! Maybe Bossy should marry him!
Oh, wait…
Looks like Marianne is subscribing to my own accidental philosophy of masking one’s dark and edgey past with an innocuous suburban mom image.
And…my guess is that is Marc Ribot on guitar

Marc Ribot on guitar, and Greg Cohen on the bass. Very big names if you are into jazz.
Saw her on Letterman last week. What a life. She’s been to hell and back a few times.
Love her. Am jealous.
Looks like my friend Karen’s mother. What’s she doing there and not in Tacoma? The woman, I mean. Karen’s mother looks nothing like the guitar and bass players.
I am a little concerned by the intimacy between the bass player and his bass. But I’m glad they found each other.
John Malkovich and Woody Allen. I guess Woody had the laser eye surgery and looks like John is hitting the old Slim Fast.
Sorry, thought the singer was Bossy’s mom at first, with really stringy hair. The guitarist reminds me of the ‘Blinded me by science’ dude although he plays keyboard, and the bass player is way too mousy to even mention. I love a picture where the instrument is holding the musician up. Unfortunatly for me he is probably so acomplished that he could break my neck using the middle finger and thumb of his left hand.
