Crabs.
And before all the guests at Bossy’s Poverty Party can say it first, no, Bossy can’t afford crabs.
But crabs are also her daughter’s favorite thing, and last June Bossy promised her daughter a stack of crabs for doing such a good job in school. Last June. And so that promise rolled downhill unattended all this time, finally picking up speed when it became the focus on a list of possible Spring Break treats.
So last night Bossy and her husband and her daughter and her mother went to a restaurant for crabs. And it was lovely. So sue them.
Totally worth it.
Oh my, especially Dinardo’s crabs!!!!!
Look of it as an investment, maybe shmarty-pants will continue to succeed in school landing her a college scholarship some day (all because of the crab incentive). Although, with her mad acting skills, she may just fly the coop and head to Hollywood…but I bet dinner was delish!
I’m with #1. Totally worth it. A life without crabs is a life not worth living. Yum
Since there was the potential heart breakage of a child involved, this is totally excused.
Is it soft shell crab time? Oooooh I could eat my weight in them. Now that would break the Poverty Party bank!!!
bossy went to the best damn place for crabs in the city!
Don’t EVER introduce Bossy Daughter to Kobe Beef.
[Poor Bossy, having to get defensive to that very strict Poverty Party crowd.]
What a great smile, as ever, on BD’s lit-up face. Good for her. My mom used to reward me for good grades with a hour’s drive to The Big City for a day of shopping (using my allowance money) and — tada! — lunch out. It was grand. About the only time this middle child got Mom to herself. Lovely memories. Good job, Bossy.
I had crabs once.
Bossy’s daughter is sooooo deserving of a night out.
I don’t eat crab….I AM a crab.
A smile like that for a pile of crabs? Well worth it!
A lovely splurge. When dungeness season comes around out here, we’ll be doing the same thing!
GAH! I miss eating crab, especially sweet sweet snow crab with all kinds of drippy stainy butter. *drools* Of course I had to go and become allergic to it. Right about the time I could afford it for myself. Damn karma.
That smile on that child’s face could illuminate the entire US. Or at least a seaboard. Awesome.
I’m glad it was worth waiting for! My dd got a 2nd pair of holes in her ears for making honor roll this last time.
My mom used to take me to all you can eat clams at the Ore House in Bend, Oregon. All kinds of seafood: still my absolute favorite treat.
Bossy should never EVER have to justify treating her daughter to the finer things. Ever.
And especially on her OWN blog.
And crabs = good.
I saw a girl on my flight today who looked like a younger Bossy’s Daughter. And then I saw a boy who looked like a younger Bossy’s Son. (He even had the sideburns.) And then my head exploded!
I got crabs for free once, from my boyfriend…uhhh..they really look like little crabs, too.
He said he got them from his friends sleepingbag. OY. And I believed him.
what a loser I was….
Bossy’s daughter would never believe her eyes if she had crabs from here, fresh steamed crabs straight out the bay right from a crabber’s basket.
Of course if Bossy and Bossy’s daughter traveled South this summer, say around mid-July, Bossy’s daughter could have as many crabs as she liked. Gratis. And Bestis.
