Taking pictures.
When Bossy was sixteen her boyfriend gave her a Nikon for Christmas, and thus Bossy gained a black plastic appendage she would seldom be without, forever more.
Once in college, Bossy took a few photography classes, which included work in a darkroom. Bossy loved her photography classes and she loved her college’s photography department. Which is why Bossy decided to leave that college and enter art school for photography.
But Bossy didn’t like the art school or the art school’s photography department and so Bossy quit. And then he happened.
And he provided Bossy with a subject to photograph. And two years later Bossy returned to school for graphic design, and was able to integrate photography into her studies.
And then she happened. Which provided Bossy with yet another photography subject. And then Bossy gave birth to a bouncing baby blog where the photographic possibilities never end.
Bossy is grateful to have an outlet for her photos these days, and grateful to her readers for putting up with someone who failed Nikon school.
The End.
with exception of the first two, all photos above taken of Bossy during her 2008 Excellent Road Trip. Except for the last photo. OK, so that’s three photos not taken on the Excellent Road Trip, but the remaining two… who needs a Tuesday morning cocktail?

April 14, 2009 at 8:56 amwell, I knew there was some trick to the john cusack pic because you would have been sitting on his lap if he were really there.

April 14, 2009 at 1:02 pmHah! I saw the photo of you in the jean jacket and said to myself, “wow, that really really looks like the Santa Monica pier” (it’s a few blocks from my apartment, I’m not that much of a nerd) but then thought “no, Bossy lives on the East Coast so I just have an overactive imagination.”
But thanks to your last line, I know I’m not crazy.
Keep the great photos coming! You’ve inspired me to start thinking twice before I snap the shutter button (or whatever it’s called on a digital camera) and actually frame up some creative shots. It’s Nikon school’s loss, I say.

April 14, 2009 at 10:39 pmGreat yarn… blogs are exactly the same for me. A place to offload all that snapping, where SOMEONE might actually look at it. As opposed to my hard drive, where it could gather dust for decades!!!!
Does anyone else think that that shot of Bossy with the red bangles is a bit Meg Ryan-ish??
🙂

April 15, 2009 at 10:49 amThank you for letting on that Mr. Cusack was photoshopped in, because I was beginning to get jealous thinking that he was about to grab Bossy’s derriere…

April 15, 2009 at 12:11 pmI zipped over and savored your letter and photos of your son. Will save the daughter version for later today. So sweet.
Andy, props to you because I actually thought Mr. Cusack was there right behind Bossy! Great perspective, etc etc.
Your math on the photo credits? Impeccably Bossy.
