The other day while spring cleaning, Bossy’s husband found this abandoned fortune in this exact condition. Bossy thinks she remembers trying to yank it out from under something, months ago, and it ripping, but it was upside down at the time, and Bossy was in a rush, so she never looked at it to assess the damage.
But the question remains: what does it mean?

April 14, 2009 at 8:31 amIt means someone had a bad day and took it out on an innocent fortune. Nothing a little tape can’t fix.
My MiL opened a fortune cookie last night that contained a fortune reading, “Sometimes cookies have no fortunes.” What a cop-out. Of COURSE they have fortunes! They’re fortune cookies! That is their sole purpose in life!

April 14, 2009 at 9:23 amI want my fortune cookies to have a FORTUNE–not a saying, not a comment, not a compliment–a FORTUNE. I framed my favorite one — “The coming year will bring you much happiness.” Now there’s a fortune!

April 14, 2009 at 12:56 pmI agree with aj in houston. Fortune cookies are supposed to have FORTUNES. Not stupid little adages, “a stitch in time will save nine” etc.
And what is with yours? Who’s the “we”… since it’s coming from the fortune cookie, is it saying that the cookie and you were happy together? Maybe the cookie ripped it apart in frustration after you started eating it.

April 14, 2009 at 1:59 pmThis is left over from Bossy’s Excellent Road Trip reminding her that she skirted the opportunity to visit Grandma J in Texas. That’s all.
Some people just can’t let go…..

April 14, 2009 at 3:08 pmAlways thought fortune cookie fortunes were fairly dopey UNTIL a friend told his recipe for understanding them: to the end of every fortune, add “IN BED.” Whole new world of interpretation when you do that.

April 14, 2009 at 4:17 pmA few months ago I stumbled across a study of lottery winners and where they came up with the numbers they played. A stunning number had played those weird “lucky” numbers that most fortunes have on the B-side. No doubt it’s coincidental and not causal, but hey! Lucky numbers! I’m over heeeeere!

April 14, 2009 at 7:00 pmNow before you panic assuming this means dire things for your marriage, this fortune should be laminated seperately and then you both wear a half of the fortune as a necklace!!! Get it? Just like those “Love/Always” or “Best/Friends” necklaces that come together when you come together. As it were. You can actually market my idea and sell it on your blog. I’m generous like that.
