–>I LOVE perennials. I bought over 1,000 tulip bulbs a few years ago because they were $.10 for a bag of 50. I didn’t realize til later that they didn’t plant themselves but they are beautiful every spring.
The allium is in the onion family; still a little odd to me.
When we moved into our current home a few years ago, I was amazed when this ‘thing’ came out of the ground and produced 3 large purple blooms. On a trip to PA, a local Mennonite woman selling flowers said “sounds like Allium” when I tried to describe them to her. We’re up to 5 blooms this year and the foliage is massive.
I love alliums! I always plant a batch of blubs every year from the White Flower Farm (great web site and good deals). Lots of go power for the garden, and deer hate them.
Nice flowers. I tend to kill flowers myself, so I usually plant flowering shrubs. Although, I have been known to kill those too. They are hardier than flowers though.
Oh thank you, dearest Bossy! I not only lurf these things, but this photo takes me back to a moment in my mid-twenties when I had a little hippie-girl garden, and went out one day to see my these-things with the Strangest-Ever slimy not-a-slug-it-was-skinnier-with-a-shovel-shaped-head Thing on them. Photographed it. Wonder where that photo got to — probably a SLIDE in a box somewhere. Nonetheless, what a delight to see it. thanks.
