Welcome to Bossy’s Ear Worm, which features songs currently in Bossy’s headphones. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Calexico, Guero Canelo.
Bossy fell hard for this band a handful of years ago after her friend Jimmy put a couple of their tunes on a compilation CD for Bossy — a CD Bossy took with her when she lived in central Mexico for over a month. Now Bossy can’t hear this song without thinking of spring and Jacaranda blossoms and the dusty, smokey smell of fried cornmeal.

May 19, 2009 at 8:02 amI’ve been craving Spanish sounding music lately. it reminds me of hot summer days and nights in my grandmother’s kitchen.

May 19, 2009 at 10:23 amI went to school in Cuernavaca at the language center way back in 1989. It was a good thing I wasn’t there longer than a couple of weeks, because I wasn’t quite right after I got home. I had started thinking in Spanish and had picked up some dreadful intestinal varmint. I was very ill after I returned home and was sort of delirious. I had the tv on to any station that was in Spanish.
I finally got ok. The music on your blog today is very nice.
