This past weekend, Bossy’s Dane Stella celebrated her fourth birthday, and here’s how: first the family left her out in the rain:
And then Bossy’s family left her out on the porch because she smelled like — and this is difficult to believe — wet dog:
And then it was time to present Stella with her annual birthday card:
And then the family left Stella alone for the day while they went out with an old family friend and then they fed Stella her dinner too late and she threw up. On to year five.

awwww poor Stella, maybe next year your family will do better.
Wow! Bossy’s family knows how to celebrate!
And Stella knows how to reciprocate!
Happy Monday 2u2.
The reason I like dogs so much is because you can treat them like that and they still love you. They are so good at forgiving and forgetting. I wish I could train my husband the way I’ve trained my dogs.
Happy birthday, Stella!
Happy birthday, Stella. May year five bring you lots of timely, treats.
Happy Monday, Bossy!
Stella’s no dummy, Family goes out and celebrates WITHOUT HER…She knows how to get even.
Happy Birthday pretty girl, Stella
Wishing Stella a year filled with the family’s undivided attention……………….or not………….
Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday Stella.
At first, I thought Bossy’s Daughter was wearing the same Pajama Pants as in the puppy retrospective, but that can’t be. Bossy’s Daughter has grown 8 or 9 inches taller since then. (So has Stella!)
Hells no!!! You guys owe her a party!!!
Happy Birthday, Stella.
Happy 4th Birthday, Stella! You are gorgeous! Stella’s no dummy. She can smell a re-gifter a mile away! hahaha!
Happy BURFDAY Stella! Awwww so sweet.
Happy Birthday Stella!
Stella, you don’t look a day over 3. May this year bring lots of scooby snacks and many hugs.
Our gets even with us by eating cat poops, then surprise frenching us. And we all still love each other. Go figure.
Happy birthday Stella!
I’m somewhat relieved to read about your “celebrations” of Stella’s b-day. Cause I thought you really WERE going to go all-out. Like a facebook friend whose little girls planned an entire birthday party for their dog (and their little girl friends and all THEIR dogs) including: homemade dog biscuits, doggie (and little girl) musical chairs, doggie obstacle course, dance competitions, ending with individual doggie massages by the little girls. The mother was amused/bemused.
And you thought Stella was long-suffering.
I’ve had birthdays that were almost identical to this…
Happy birthday, Stella!!!! (And I think your editorial statement about the festivities was right on the mark!)
*kissey face*
-Fiona the Goldendoodle (who is expecting slightly better treatment for HER birthday next month)
Happy birthday to the biggest dog I’ve ever seen, from the five pound wonder dog.
Lucky dog.
Seriously, this post made me laugh aloud.
Sounds a little like my weekend. Happy Birthday Stella!
Poor Stella! Come live with me sweety! I’ll treat you right!
Happy Birthday, Stella. For Bossy’s sake, I sure do hope you’re done growing.
She’s only five? I got the sense she’d been with the family for, like, 30 years or something.
I hope she’s not on a vegetarian diet. She looks like she could use some food.
That’s pretty cool. Cutter and Tug just turned four a couple of months ago and we did what we do every year. We forgot.
But they still seem to love us
Happy Birthday to all.
Happy Birthday Stella… hope there was a least a birthday bone in the loot.
Stella’s Down Under cousin Axel is wreaking puppy havoc and Axel’s mum will be contacting Stella’s mum for some advice. She has already taken up the ‘wet Dane to the porch’ tidbit and is hope for the ‘keeping the Dane off the carpet’ advice very shortly.

Happy Birthday Stella. You should come to my house, we never, ever leave our doggies out in the rain! They spend THE WHOLE DAY INSIDE. Because rain might make them melt.
Happy Birthday beautiful Stella. You don’t look a day over 3 1/2.
I love Stella. She kind of looks like Franklin D. Roosevelt in the first photo. In a good way.
Happy Birthday Stella! Hope ya got lots of Stella Treats (instead of treats named after that other well-known Great Dane)
Wishing Stella a stellar happy birthday, from the knuckleheads, (Abbie and Cooper) who are one year ahead of her.
Stella’s birthday would be a good day to go outside, get down on one knee, and yell “STELLA! STELLA!” up at the window.
But only the one day a year.
Stella is soooooo photogenic! I lub her.
