This past weekend, Bossy’s Dane Stella celebrated her fourth birthday, and here’s how: first the family left her out in the rain:
And then Bossy’s family left her out on the porch because she smelled like — and this is difficult to believe — wet dog:
And then it was time to present Stella with her annual birthday card:
And then the family left Stella alone for the day while they went out with an old family friend and then they fed Stella her dinner too late and she threw up. On to year five.

June 22, 2009 at 9:04 amThe reason I like dogs so much is because you can treat them like that and they still love you. They are so good at forgiving and forgetting. I wish I could train my husband the way I’ve trained my dogs.
Happy birthday, Stella!

At first, I thought Bossy’s Daughter was wearing the same Pajama Pants as in the puppy retrospective, but that can’t be. Bossy’s Daughter has grown 8 or 9 inches taller since then. (So has Stella!)

June 22, 2009 at 1:09 pmI’m somewhat relieved to read about your “celebrations” of Stella’s b-day. Cause I thought you really WERE going to go all-out. Like a facebook friend whose little girls planned an entire birthday party for their dog (and their little girl friends and all THEIR dogs) including: homemade dog biscuits, doggie (and little girl) musical chairs, doggie obstacle course, dance competitions, ending with individual doggie massages by the little girls. The mother was amused/bemused.
And you thought Stella was long-suffering.

June 22, 2009 at 4:31 pmThat’s pretty cool. Cutter and Tug just turned four a couple of months ago and we did what we do every year. We forgot.
But they still seem to love us
Happy Birthday to all.

June 22, 2009 at 5:11 pmHappy Birthday Stella… hope there was a least a birthday bone in the loot.
Stella’s Down Under cousin Axel is wreaking puppy havoc and Axel’s mum will be contacting Stella’s mum for some advice. She has already taken up the ‘wet Dane to the porch’ tidbit and is hope for the ‘keeping the Dane off the carpet’ advice very shortly.

June 23, 2009 at 3:40 pmStella’s birthday would be a good day to go outside, get down on one knee, and yell “STELLA! STELLA!” up at the window.
But only the one day a year.
