But so brave and defiant of the coming winter in their scrawniness. Rock on, end-of-season cosmos. We’ll be longing for you come the dead of January . . .
Oh mine were looking like that…until the aphids ate most of them…and then the frost. Oh! the early frost. The frost-kissed blossoms were really pretty on Saturday morning, but now they have turned completely black, like a Mount Everest climber’s frost-bitten toes. It is sad. Amputation is scheduled for Saturday.

I wish my outdoor flowers looked that good. I don’t know what happened this year.

I’m getting that swollen end of season look. Trade ya.
My flowers looked like that until we got 8″ of snow dumped on us Friday night. Ugh! Another Nebraska winter.
They’re still purty. So is Bossy.

I love Cosmos. Probably my favorite flower.
You’ve come a long way baby….from the scrawny petunias in the window boxes!! hehe
Stick my with kind of Cosmo – the one with vodka, triple sec and cranberry juice – they never go out of season!
LoL Zadge. Next time I get a weak Cosmos I will have to refer to it as a Bossy C.
That is a beautiful picture.
