Funny thing is, there’s a town here in New Zealand actually called Gore – and it never struck me as odd before now. (I wonder how many doctors/surgeons it’s produced, and whether they felt, you know, kind of obliged to make that career choice).
We also have a town called Whakapapa – wh in Maori is pronounced like an F.
