Welcome to Bossy’s Ear Worm, which features songs currently in Bossy’s headphones. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
The Republic Tigers, Sinkin’ Annie, Down, Down, Down.
Bossy just discovered this Kansas City band The Republic Tigers, whose members used to be in other Kansas City project bands — sometimes together, sometimes not — until coming together to record a couple of things in 2007 and 2008 for Chop Shop Records, an imprint of, and Bossy swears she found this out by accident, Atlantic Records.
This song is so… pleasant is the word that comes to mind, although Bossy suspects if she were to study the lyrics a little closer she would discover something sad and disturbing.
But for tonight there is no deeper meaning. Only a couple of steady rhythm guitars, an effectively plodding drum track, and a cog machine of vocals which are occasionally almost Sesame Street comical in their timing.
I like it!
I almost said that I’d never heard of them before, but I see that I’ve had “Buildings & Mountains” on my favorites playlist for over a year!
Thanks for the reminder!
