Bossy’s Fusion Hybrid and how good it is on gas. Sister mercy, who out there has a hybrid? It makes a difference people, especially if that difference is (Harrison) Ford, who managed to get from New York City to Dallas Texas on, like, six tanks of gas.
Luckily Bossy is one of those mathy types, and so she can tell you the exact miles per gallon, calculated with special consideration toward the car’s velocity and efficiency of acceleration and braking — and that exact miles per gallon figure is: A lot.

May 11, 2010 at 3:48 pmAww, you tricked me! I want the number! My non-hybrid gets like 17 mpg in my slow-mo city traffic. Here’s my usual math: Is the odometer over 250 miles since the last fill-up? And, does it cost more or less than $50 to fill from E?

May 11, 2010 at 3:51 pmMy very own (Harrison) Ford is an Escape Hybrid, which was at the time the only hybrid 4×4 vehicle on the US market. And at the time I needed 4×4, for real, because I lived on a ranch and did a fair amount of off-road driving to locate cattle and horses and such. I don’t get the killer mileage that, say, the Prius crowd gets…but I also drive an SUV with four wheel drive…and in that SUV I typically get about 27mpg in the winter and 36-38 in the summer.
So, yeah, I’m a convert too! Hey, do you suppose ALL (Harrison) Fords are hybrids?

May 11, 2010 at 5:12 pmActually, you have to convert for the time zones, so it’s a lot PLUS THREE.

May 11, 2010 at 10:41 pmI have a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid. I used to fill up my car before I drove across town. Now, I fill up to drive across the state. And the control panel looks kind of spaceshippy. I love it!
