My Grandpa used to carry a small salt shaker in his pants pocket. He’d walk out to the garden, pick a tomato off of the vine, rub any dirt (etc.) off on his pants leg, then take a huge bite out of it. He’d then salt it and repeat, salt, repeat. Fond memory but it kinda makes me want to gag too!
One of my fondest memories of my grandpa was being handed a sun-warmed tomato just off the vine – which I ate, of course! Long time ago so tomatoes still tasted like tomatoes, and I love them to this day. I’m with Bossy!
Yep yep YEP, although you just can’t find a decent mater in the grocery store to do this with. But back in those halcyon days of summer with my grands I would pick one from the garden and nom nom nom… *mouth waters*
Some home grown tomatoes can be as sweet as any fruit. I love eating them after being picked from the vine. Although I have had some tasteless homegrown tomatoes because it didn’t get enough sun while it was growing. Forget supermarket tomatoes.
