This situation. Bossy was hot to tell you all about this seedling thing she found inside the pumpkin she was carving because: inside the pumpkin? How does anything germinate without light?
But anyway, no sooner had Bossy set this seedling thing up for its little seedling photo shoot than Bossy’s (Not) stray Baby David came running from a distant bribe to offer some size perspective.
Thanks Baby D.
Plant it. And see what kind of mutant pumpkins you can grow. Thanks Baby D. Even your paw is purdy.
Oh my, I love the kitty feet.
In the thumbnail, it looked like the stomach and esophagus of some mutant creature. Perhaps, your pumpkin’s???
Baby D was coming to the rescue to perform a stomach transplant.
–>I think Bossy just found Jack’s beanstalk.
Yesterday I found a similar “plant” inside a green bell pepper when I cut it open for chopping…weird coincidence. I wondered the same thing about the germination of a seed inside a vegetable. Wish I’d been quick enough to think about photographing my find!
great photo. I like the colors, the shapes – and the kitty paw lol I can just see the potential toy value of the seedling.
Ohhhh….Baby David is a hunter and gatherer.
So after I read this yesterday afternoon, I bit into my 3:00 snack, a Fuji apple. It was sort of mottled inside – tan and yellow, but I was very hungry. So I cut it in half to determine to source of the semi-ickiness. Lo and behold: 4 of the 5 seeds had sprouted!! No leaves, but definitely an inch of root on each seed! Coincidence? I think not.
The new moon perhaps? Hugs, p.j.
No light needed for germination. Around here we haven’t had any rain for seems like eons, smart plants to provide their own growth media.
Love Baby David too, Bossy’s furball assistant.
