Oh good, it’s Valentine’s Day again, because you know how much the Undivorced enjoy celebrating the holidays of romance.
Except the truth is Bossy never saw the appeal. While it’s true Valentine’s Day affords a chocolate-eating opportunity, it’s also the day we celebrate Cupid’s arrow through the heart and — is it Bossy — that’s just ow.
Bossy never understood why Valentine’s Day gained in popularity given all of the other widely-known events worthy of celebration that took place on February 14th. Shall we?
- Happy Apple Parer Patent Day!
- Happy Oregon admitted as the 33rd State Day!
- Happy Emperor Leopold Chases Jews out of Vienna Day!
- Happy U.S. Congress Begins Using Voting Machines Day!
- Happy Victor Fleming replaces George Cukor as Director of Gone With the Wind Day!
- Happy Sugar Ray Robinson defeats Jake Lamotta Day!
- Happy Anniversary of Jackie Kenenedy‘s Televised White House Tour Day!
- Happy Aretha Franklin Records Respect Day!
- Happy First Micro On A Chip Patented By Texas Instruments Day!
- Happy Jerry Garcia Weds Deborah Koons Day!

Sorry Bossy, I’d just end up getting you chocolate anyway.

I loved listening to Otis Redding talking about that little girl stealing his song 🙂
One of those greeting card, candy maker, and florist holidays. Never a big fan. Ranks right there with sweetest day IMO.
I think Bossy would enjoy dancing a Soul Train line to Respect while nibbling on dark chocolate just about any day. Left out the wine, wouldn’t want to spill it.

Bossy — I am with you! I will meet you for chocolate, wine and some sedatives to celebrate Jackie O. 😉

As a newly separated wife and mom,I will be donating blood on this valentines day. You know the old saying cant squeeze blood from a … , the answer is yes you can! The difference is this is a worthy cause. No unvalentines day cards at the grocery store

February 14th is also statehood day for Arizona. Feb 14th, 1912, the 48th state. 🙂 It’s also Rob Thomas’s (Matchbox 20) birthday, which is far more important than Cupid. Because he’s hot. Rob Thomas, not Cupid.

Ah Boss you are back!
I was all upset about those videos of Jackie, too. She had been a standard until she opened her mouth. But, it had been a really long time since I’d heard her speak. Oh well, maybe we all talked like that way back when.

And best of all – at least to Olivia from the Great White North – happy “Halfway through February Day “.
That much closer to spring which should arrive sometime in May or June in Olivia’s part of the world.

Feb. 14th marks my son’s half-birthday. I can’t believe you didn’t mention that, even if you knew nothing about it!

And it is the day, if I remember correctly, when Elton John married his female wife. Remember her name? Yeah, me too. Neither.
Texas Susan saysFebruary 13, 2012 at 2:33 pm
Thanks for making me LOL at #3! Glad I wasn’t eating chocolate and sniffing roses at the time . . . probably because the Mister hasn’t bought any for me in years.
Patricia saysFebruary 13, 2012 at 7:30 pm
Travelling on the weekend, we stopped at the Big Apple in Ontario – where they have sold over 1.5 miliion apple pies and they use that peeler!! And i am unvalentine’s day person too…
Jen saysFebruary 14, 2012 at 11:33 am
I’m with wombat mommy – I love my apple peeler corer, too! Truly better than no valentine or being disappointed (over and over again) by someone who doesn’t buy into the hallmark hype as much as me.
Suburban Kamikaze saysFebruary 14, 2012 at 3:52 pm
There’s almost too much to celebrate here. Luckily I already have my lingerie picked out for Voting Machines Day.

AND, Happy Arizona becomes the 47th State Day! (I didn’t know we shared an anniversary with Oregon – certainly, we’re like polar opposites. Ha, polar – like winters in Oregon.)
