This Christmas Cactus. It was given to Bossy at this time last year, in full bloom. The plant was stuck in a prominent place in Bossy’s apartment and subsequently ignored, collecting dust through three seasons.
And now it’s blooming again. Bossy hopes it’s symbolic.
I had a huge one that bloomed for at least 3 years, then up and died while being moved to a new home.
Are they poisonous to cats? She ate my (unlucky) bamboo so I’m hesitant to bring in another snack.
She attempted to eat the Christmas tree branches until she discovered that they were made of plastic.
I think it might be, Bossy. There is a story about a resurrection that sounds remarkably like your Cactus Story.
I found some research here.

I think AmberStar is a faker.
If you place it is a colder spot you might get more blooms. I ignore mine except for occasional water and it blooms every year. I keep mine by a drafty window.
