Cousins. They’re like siblings, except without the small injustices and disappointments.
Bossy is lucky to live only a few blocks from her brother, and between the two of them, they have created four cousins. Bossy’s brother’s girls are similar in age to Bossy’s daughter, and within minutes of a family gathering, they retreat to a nearby room to write and direct the night’s entertainment.
That’s right, they put on shows. And not just shows, but inventive spectacles.
In the example above, the girls have written a skit that involves Bossy’s daughter as the subject of an interview. She is a living puppet, because her own hands are playing the part of her feet, and the actual hands belong to Bossy’s niece, who is hiding behind her. You may remember this niece by her more common name: Famous Director.
In the photo above, Bossy’s daughter channels Tina Fey. Conducting the interview is Bossy’s other niece, who you may remember by her more common name: Miss Perfect Date.
All is right in the world among the cousins, assuming they don’t pass out from laughing.

Bossy and her brother are lucky ducks, to live so close, to share their adult lives and to see the joy of their children together!

November 20, 2008 at 12:53 pmMy cousin and I used to survive on a raft in the middle of the ocean together. Until someone needed food and then we’d jump off the quilt and run to the kitchen. But for minutes there, we had to rough it!

November 20, 2008 at 1:30 pmI remember a cousin-skit that required carving carrots into goldfish shape so I could boldly swallow it — whole? Now one of those cousins is a lord high mucketymuck at Blackberry. And still one of my favorites, a sweetheart.
Jimi on the stair landing caught my eye too.
