Otherwise known as the Soybean, Edamame is a legume native to Eastern Asia.
According to Wikipedia the soybean is an annual plant that may grow prostrate or stiffly erect with self-fertile flowers and stems covered in gray pubescence and Bossy is sorry but are we still talking about edamame?
Edamame has a mild nut flavor and contains almost as much protein as an egg white. And soybeans have more acid than a Grateful Dead concert which is why edamame is thought to inhibit blood clotting, reduce the risk of cancer, and possibly lower cholesterol.
To prepare this healthy snack, typically the soybeans are briskly boiled for a few minutes while in their shell and served with a dusting of
heart attack salt.
