Yesterday Bossy went to the community pool with her friends Martha and Amy. It was nearly a perfect day. First they read design magazines and giggled, then they read gossip magazines and giggled, and then they giggled.
When storm clouds chased them from the pool, they retired to Bossy’s back porch where they drank wine and consumed large amounts of cheese. And then they took the dog for a long walk, and then they watched back-to-back episodes of Intervention.
Like Bossy said: it was nearly perfect, where perfect would have been cheese with no calories.
For today’s Ten-Word Tuesday challenge, can you tell Bossy about your best friend and what constitutes a near perfect day spent together?
By the way, Amy said she would kill Bossy if even one photo of her in a bikini appeared on this blog. So luckily there isn’t one photo. There are six.
No kids. Shoe shopping, wine drinking and beet tart eating.
those moments are rare in my adult life, since kids
Bookstore, coffee, talking, and then onto wine, dessert and gossiping.

Well, you can tell Amy she looks pretty good in a bikini.
My best friend lives in Texas while I live in Illinois. I only get to see her once or twice a year. However, we talk on the phone almost daily. (Cheap cell phone minutes are a wonderful thing!)
We are so in tune with each other’s lives that when we do see each other, we just slip right in to normal and comfortable.
My perfect day with her would probably involve shopping. I’m not a big shopper, but she is. She usually gets me to try things I wouldn’t have. Most of my favorite things were bought when with her: a kickass pair of boots, a daring shirt, and once even a mixing bowl. (We both own i am bossy t-shirts.)
The shopping isn’t really as important as the time spent together. We talk and banter. We confirm each other’s taste and style. We reaffirm that we fit together and get along so comfortably. We don’t have to make an event out of seeing each other. We do the things we would do if we lived closer and saw each other all the time. And I value every minute.
All my time (for now) spent with girls in tow.
Child-free, we kickbox, manicure, pedicure, lunch, swim, margaritas and talk.

Before I even get started on my 10 word response, THAT was how you spent your Monday??? Mine was spent in a windowless office, so you are so lucky that I didn’t come down there to smack you about complaining about fattening cheese.
Regarding the ten words challenge, I don’t have any one best friend, so what we would do would depend on the best friend.

Narisara: Cocktails, scandalous gossip, the theater or dance or museums/galleries.
Blossom: Musicals, Thai food, pets, frank conversation, leisurely strolls, no drama.

ps, Doesn’t matter, because when we do get together it is like we never missed a beat. Two hours visiting with “Bones” seems to pass like 15 minutes. She is venomously funny, we are catty like high school juniors whenever we meet. Her nickname for me since 5th grade is “The Mollis”, even her dad calls me that. She gave my german shepherd dog the nickname of Moose-puke(no he didn’t puke and his real name was Avanti). Maybe I should call her today… Oh crap, it is her 41st FREAKING BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!
