Setting the family table for four. Seriously.
The Bossy family has always taken pride in eating dinner together nearly every night, with plenty of things to argue and contemplate. But things have been a little lopsided since Bossy’s son went off to college, and occasionally Bossy and her husband and her daughter find themselves sitting there chewing with little to say.
Keep that up, and Bossy is going to invite the Lap Pony to grab a chair and sit down.

December 19, 2008 at 9:58 amCareful, you’re going to blink and there will only be two settings.
My family always ate dinner together. Um, let’s just say it wasn’t QUITE as bucolic as your family dinners. Grim silences were not uncommon.

December 19, 2008 at 11:20 amHopefully my boy will make it out of Newark airport this a.m. and we will also be a foursome tonight! Last night, his loving sister made a brownie birthday cake for a belated celebration tonight. Poor kid had exams on his Weds. birthday.
Very weird to have him gone on his B.D. I celebrated my efforts 19 years ago by taking my husband out to dinner. Actually, that was a good way to celebrate!
Enjoy, p.j.

December 19, 2008 at 12:10 pmSupper (or dinner — I’m from the midwest, ok?) with family is nearly a lost art. It is required that my kids (if possible) eat supper with us every night! Good for you!

December 19, 2008 at 1:38 pmI just love seeing those Two Goofs of yours. Their affection is palpable. And how the heck you have trained them to be so tolerant of the camera, is beyond me. Well done, Bossy!

December 19, 2008 at 2:44 pmAt our house, dinner was not an enjoyable family time. It was a time for impeccable manners and silence, except for when you messed up and used the wrong fork or totally lost your mind and chewed with your mouth open. I like the way the Bossy family does dinner.

December 19, 2008 at 3:58 pmMy sons are only 5 and 3, but we eat dinner together every night. At the table. With no TV. with silverware. Had to throw that in so you see how civilized we are.
