Released in 1965, I Spy was a popular half-hour television drama starring Robert Culp and Bill Cosby as two American undercover agents traveling the globe doing spy stuff.
The episode Bossy recently caught in syndication begins when a European National blah blah defects and is transported to Mexico by blah:
But this doesn’t square up, because why is the European National being transported to Mexico when blah blah blah?
And then suddenly there were two bad guys who were tailing Robert Culp and Bill Cosby because hfhfkeo skklls dkfk zzzzzzzz:
Soon Robert Culp and Bill Cosby learn that the American spy transporting the European National is most likely crooked and planning the European National’s assassination. Except Robert Culp has been friends with this spy for years and can’t believe it. So he decides to confront him:
And then suddenly, in the middle of the confrontation, more bad guys begin shooting from an adjacent hill:
Temporarily out of harm’s way, Robert Culp realizes the bad guys were not aiming at his friend, which elevates his suspicions that he’s working for the other side, and so he confronts him again:
Then there was more shooting, and some falling, except Robert Culp and Bill Cosby remained unscathed. Even though Robert Culp’s friend died. And right after he died they discovered he wasn’t actually crooked and working for the other side after all. At least Bossy doesn’t think he was.

January 7, 2009 at 2:34 pmMy favorite part (aside from all the Bossy comments) is the dress The Girl is wearing: orange and wide purple stripes. Now that’s a look. Her hair too. My wispy locks only dreamed of being able to look like that.
I wanted to marry Ilya Kuriakin too. Do a review of The Man from Uncle (too lazy to put in caps and dots) sometime, please, Bossy.

January 7, 2009 at 2:43 pmRobert Culp is the original Mr. Big! See the resemblance?? If Sex and the City was around then, Bob would have left I Spy for that show! Maybe Bob is Chris Noth’s DAD?? Where’s Entertainment Tonight to set the record straight? I was going to marry Eric Astrada of CHiPs … when I was like 9. He could do all that blah blah stuff Robert Culp could AND ride a motorcycle.

January 7, 2009 at 2:47 pmWhen ol’ boy is getting a boot to the head, is Bill Cosby smiling down in approval?
Ima get my vote on for Bossy again today.

January 7, 2009 at 2:48 pmKind of a boring show. Maybe it’s better “live.” And sadly Robert Culp’s career landed him on The Greatest American Hero”: bad show – good theme song.

January 7, 2009 at 6:19 pmWhen I was a kid I was addicted to a show starring Bill Cosby too, only it was The Cosby Show. And I also wanted to marry the man standing next to Bill Cosby on the screen, only it was Theo Huxtable. Because hellooooo Theo, what a dreamboat. http://tinyurl.com/9y2hb8

January 7, 2009 at 6:27 pmWhen I was a kid, I knew I was going to grow up and marry Michael Landon, aka “Pa,” from LIttle House on the Prairie.
In one fell swoop, my Mother crushed my dreams; On a dark day in 1973, I learned the truth about Santa AND that I was never going to marry Michael Landon aka “Pa,” from Little House on the Prairie.
Thanks for bringing back the pain.

January 7, 2009 at 8:11 pmI love how Bill Cosby is just suavely smiling in that drop-kick pic. Was that his role? “Suavely smiling guy”
@ jennifer – YOU couldn’t marry Michael Landon, because *I* was going to. Or, he was going to be my Dad. Or something. Hello, Electra complex!

January 7, 2009 at 9:51 pmDavid McCallum is on NCIS now as Dr. Ducky, which is just fine with OG, because Mark Harmon is on NCIS, and that equals yummy, even if he is married to Mindy.

January 8, 2009 at 5:33 amAbsolutely! Ilya was worth drooling over. I don’t know what made my jaw hit the floor faster, the 1st time I saw him on “The Man From U.N.C.L.E” or the 1st time I realized it was David McCallum on N.C.I.S. He has definitely aged with more character than grace. But then so many of us have done the same. (sigh)
