the spikes are there to keep the pigeons from roosting and pooping on the passengers. as are the alien eyes.
30th street station was built in the early 1930s and it was from here that president obama began his train ride to DC last saturday. 30th street station also is the second busiest amtrak station on the northeast corridor.
how do I know all this? I am seriously into trains and train travel. woo hoo!
Skylights notwithstanding, I’d assume birds get in via the platforms or loading docks that are open a lot. Our local grocery store has barn swallows up in the beams…cute, but it’s a FOOD store. Yergh.
