Last Friday, Bossy and her friend Martha played afternoon hooky and went to another free concert in the city — this time the band was Annuals.
They were young and broody and talented, even if Bossy thinks it’s slightly unnerving when a band fails to stick a The on the front of their name.
This is one of their songs, Sore, which is worth the download just to hear the drummer Stir the Soup. It’s a broody tune that layers sounds in a way that’s more mature than the band members’ combined years. Somehow the song makes Bossy cry cry cry. It also sort of reminds Bossy of Jane’s Addiction, without the addiction.
what a great song. you have good taste, bossy. perhaps a list of your top 20 is in order?
Happy Groundhog Day!!
Nice pick, Bossy.
I love well-written broody music. Tanks for sharing.
Bossy, where do you find these bands???? I have been loving your music clips. Wish my town/city/region/state had free Friday concerts like these…..
So did you find Eurythmics unnerving back in the ’80s?
Love them. I haven’t seen them live. “Sore” is one of my favorite songs. It tears me up into little bits.
Where is this city of which you speak? With free music in the winter?
