I grew up in a small town in Mississippi where we still had a guy driving around in a mule drawn wagon hawking boiled peanuts and watermelons. Hubby grew up in the Bronx and industrial Northern New Jersey living in apartments and a tiny duplex. Even after twenty years, we learn something new from each other every day like apples have stems or abandoned Safeway parking lots make great play grounds.
That does not look like a stem. The little stick-shaped things coming out of the other two apples look like stems. Ew. What is that? (A photo from another angle please?)
Now Bossy, if you want a safe dose of country (you know, where you get to virtually experience it without getting dirty or having to adjust to new smells) you must visit me today. I have something that requires good coffee, and very possibly a little something stronger. You up for it?? You might want to leave Bossy’s Husband at home though for this one…

Unlike money, these things do grow on trees down here, but usually not til the fall. Then they fall off the tree and onto the ground, and then a lizard is born and climbs out of the apple.
Stems and seeds may be a part of this process, but it’s optional.
that reminds me of the time BOSSY thought there was a chinchilla on her neighbor’s roof every single day forever. and BOSSY’s hunband was probably all ever heard of a vent (or something like a vent, but certainly not a chinchilla). (or an oppossum.)

March 11, 2009 at 7:13 amI thought these came cut up in a little plastic container? How did they manage to put them together and wrap them in a seamless red covering?
And what’s a stem?
I’m confused.
