My in-laws live in the suburban-Philly area, so, numerous times per year, we drive there from the suburban-Boston area. We have been doing this for the better part of the past 15 years, and it was a few years into this routine that I deigned to depart no earlier than 6 p.m., which placed us on the Garden State Parkway & New Jersey Turnpike at around 10 p.m. … when it’s mostly empty. My lovely bride and the children sleep, I listen to Howard Stern on my iPod, and we sail along at a brisk clip. This is the way it is done, and shall continue to be done, from now until the end. Amen.
(P.S.: At least they finally smartened up and put the “EZ Pass” lanes on the left; I used to lose my mind when arriving at a toll and having to navigate through zig-zagging morons to reach the so-called “EZ Pass” lane, often getting trapped in the non-“EZ Pass” lane-using traffic as I waited for a route to clear … which, you know, kinda defeats the whole purpose of having an “EZ Pass,” am I right?)
Wow. Long comment. I should get my own blog or something. Oh, wait …

May 18, 2009 at 11:01 amDo they ever light up all of those sign options at once? Because I think that would be a good time to pull a salmon and swim back upstream.
