Yeah. One of the many pleasures that is now denied to me living out here in the boonies. Then again, I DO have cabbages the size of basketballs in my garden, so I guess it’s an even trade.
I loved doing this from the elevated subways in Queens. All those people whose lives were so important to themselves , that we on the train knew nothing of. … Gave you a sense of the inconsequential
…Me too! (said like Monica on tv show “Friends”:o) I love to do that and I even do it to my own home. You know, when you’re outside in the evenings and you do a little peek in your own windows just to see what you would think if you didn’t live in your own house…you know, to see if you like the way you decorate and what others see if they do a little peek…you know? Someone? Please? :o)
Oh, me too. The best is from my sister’s flat in San Francisco on Thanksgiving looking into the surrounding flats – people in their kitchens cooking, well dressed guests around the table. OK, really I don’t have a problem.
Will never forget the time in college some “high” friends hoisted me up to an apartment window and dared me to make faces and yell “ooga booga” to the people inside. They were playing a party game and drinking wine – about ten of them.
Please don’t peer in our windows. The story would be “good gracious these people must enjoy squalor, and how many unwrapped crayons can one home conceivably hold?”
Love to take early evening walks when we’re in new cities or villages — for the same reasons mentioned. My mental stories always revolve around the reasons people settle in any one place instead of any other.
Sometimes my glimpses and imaginings kinda’ make me want to settle down there and sometimes they make me really glad that I don’t have to.
