Welcome to Bossy’s Ear Worm, which features songs currently in Bossy’s headphones. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Air, Cherry Blossom Girl.
Sometimes Bossy can’t even believe when a song so perfectly suited to her taste manages to elude her. Such is the case with this tune off of French duo Air‘s 2004 record, Talkie Walkie.
It’s reminiscent of the airy moody stuff by artists such as Zero 7 and Esthero and even Frou Frou — and why all the sudden does Bossy feel as though she’s typing with marbles in her mouth?
In whatever case, Bossy has five years worth of catching up to do with this tune, which is why she’s got it in her headphones on repeat these days.
I don’t want to be shy
Can’t stand it anymore
I just want to say ‘Hi’
To the one I love
Cherry blossom girl
I feel sick all day long
From not being with you
I just want to go out
Every night for a while
Cherry blossom girl
Tell me why can’t it be true
I never talk to you
People say that I should
I can pray everyday
For the moment to come
Cherry blossom girl
I just want to be sure
When I will come to you
When the time will be gone
You will be by my side
Cherry Blossom Girl
Tell me why can’t it be true
I’ll never love again
Can I say that to you
Will you run away
If I try to be true
Cherry blossom girl
Cherry blossom girl
I’ll always be there for you
That means no time to waste
Whenever there’s a chance
Cherry blossom girl
Tell me why can’t it be true
Well, actually there is a simple answer. The song is about a woman he picked out of Cherry Blossom magazine, which as you know is a lineup of thousands of Asian women who placed an ad in the Cherry Blossom magazine to attract an American man to write to them, send them lots of money, marry on the promise of being totally submissive and move them to the US so their newly found US girl friends can corrupt them and turn them into Asian Women with an Attitude. Don’t ask me how I know these things and mention NOTHING to the Little Woman about this. Have you heard Kings of Leon yet?
Oh, how I love this album and band. Their new one is growing on me. “Cherry Blossom Girl” is great, but I love “Run” with it sci-fi keyboards and repetitive lyrics.
Another French band to love (I think you will): Nouvelle Vague. Check out Bande Apart(e?). They do some bangin’ covers of a lot of songs we already love.
Bossy, just wanted you to know that I enjoy your ear worm feature. It exposes me to music I would otherwise never know of and it’s just really fun to click that lttle round button and get the surprise. Thank you!
